LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Die Hard" actor Bruce Willis filed a negligence lawsuit against Revolution Studios for pyrotechnic injuries allegedly suffered during filming of the action picture "Tears of the Sun."
The Superior Court suit claims the actor suffered substantial mental and physical injuries during the October 2002 movie set accident in which he was struck in the forehead by a "projectile" after the film's special effects personnel detonated pyrotechnic devices.
The explosions, known as squibs, were intended to "simulate the appearance of bullets striking the ground," according to the Oct. 20 lawsuit claiming Willis has endured "extreme mental, physical and emotional pain and suffering."
There were no details on the injuries.

Bruce...get a life and grow up.
he should change his name to Bruce Wussy. I remember after 9-11 how he proclaimed that he was too scared to fly. Phony Pu$$y!!!
Does anyone know if Bruce Willis honored his pledge to pay $1 million to the soldier that found Saddam? He reaffirmed that he planned to pay it but then I never heard if he actually did.
I'll take the contrarian view here. Look, you've got a multi-hundred million dollar asset in Willis, and the pyro guys didn't even protect him.
If Willis doesn't take this action who does? The next time those pyros could go off in an even more careless manner, which might injur people for life or even cost their lives.
There's no excuse for Willis being injuring in this manner. Putting the pyro concern on notice does serve a purpose.
In today's world of special effects and digitial after production work, it is unacceptable for humans to be put in that danger. Willis has every right to go after these guys.
I understand that Willis is pro-Bush.
By law he could nit pay any soldier who found Saddam. I think he said if could not do that he would donate the money to some organization that supports the military.
Whether he has done that I don't know.
"I understand that Willis is pro-Bush."
Yes he is. He was interviewed by one of these entertainment shows outside a voting booth or something and he said he voted for Bush.
I was thinking maybe it had to something to do with the way he was treated afterwards. Maybe it was unprofessional treatment that upset him vs actually being upset about the "injuries."
Shhh . . . you don't understand . . . once you become a wealthy actor, you can never bring an action for negligence.
Yep. I'll 2nd the devils advocate...
I'm thinking Brandon Lee
I'm thinking FX accident on the set and he goes home in a box.
I'm thinking that this kinda near-miss could mess with a guy's perspective...
You actually SAW that show. When I read the "Live From New York" book awhile back, the cast and crew kepr referring to that show as one of the most awful, infamous episodes in SNL history.
For that reason alone I'd like to see it (Hey, the Andrew "Dice" Clay episode wasn't too bad aftyer all), but I've read that the Seagal/ Michael Bolton (eewww!) episode was banned from repeat by Lorne.
Oh, and on a different note: Bruce Willis is one of my all-time favorite actors ("Yipee-kai-ay Motherf***er!; "Zed's Dead, baby, Zed's Dead") and is a pro-Bush Republican, which makes me admire him all the more. Did you know that Bruce even called the White House in the run-up to the Iraq war, asking if he could get a waiver to join the Army at his age? Didn't work, but his USO tours are more than enough to prove his patriotism. I don't see him as the type to engage in frivolous lawsuits, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one..
Yes, I believe he is.
That's possible.
Heh heh heh... seems like it.
How about Vic Morrow. How about that actor that shot himself with the blank gun, killing himself with the wadding. Evidently he wasn't trained how to handle or not, the blank gun.
There are a number of incidents that come to mind.
WHY does he have to sue? He squander all his million$ already and now he's following the path of scumbag attorneys?
