Dan thinks he had a
distinguished career. Well, now it's
extinguished. LOL!
As you once said, Dan:
"When the going gets weird, anchor men punt."
Time to kick, Danno!

He's leaving in the spring, but will still do 60 Minutes.'60 Too Many Minutes'

Where are we going to get our outrageous analogies from? Back up against the wall, pants on fire..."This race is as tight as the rusted lug nuts on a '55 Ford." -- Gotta admit, that was pretty funny!
To: Oschisms; martin_fierro
How are these?
*******
"It's tighter than a prairie dog's butt in a dust bowl!"
"This race is tighter than a face lift on a 50 year auditioning for 'Dawson's Creek'."
"Tonight we've seen more ups and downs than a Viagra conference."
"It's all about chads. Chads, chads, chads. Chad, chad, bo-bad, banana-fana, fo-fad. Chad."
. "This race is about as hard to call as a deaf hog up a sassafras tree."

I'm sure he's being forced out. Yeah! Not to be too graphic, but knowing Dan, to force him out of SeeBS, they may have had to use an enema. Ugh.

"I have always been and remain a `hard news' investigative reporter at heart," he said in a statement. "I now look forward to pouring my heart into that kind of reporting full time."Hey Dan, maybe now you can "pour your heart" into that hard "investigative reporting", and find out from where those damn documents came!

Dan Rather made a name for CBS... Which under his watch now stands for Can't Be Substantiated. Unfortunately, this is not quite the end to Dan. However, he has what in the sports vernacular is called a career ending injury.
By the way, how in the world is someone who can't tell time without a teleprompter going to be an investigative reporter? Will Mary Mapes be joining him? Enjoy the bench Danny!

May his legacy be one of shameMaybe he'll get his own library in Arkansas too!

1. "When Rather quitswhether this week or at a moment of his own choosingit will mark an enormous shift in American cultural life. For the first time in a generation, viewers will flip on Evening News, grab a snifter of brandy, and prepare to receive the day's stories from someone who isn't barking mad."

2. "A cabby picked up Dan Rather, the CBS correspondent, at Chicago's O'Hare Airport yesterday, and things began to happen. According to a spokesman for the Chicago police, the cab driver refused to go where he was told and instead 'drove wildly through the streets' with Mr. Rather shouting and gesturing for help."
--The New York Times, November 11, 1980.
3."I had someone at the Houston police station shoot me with heroin so I could do a story about it. The experience was a special kind of hell. I came out understanding full well how one could be addicted to 'smack,' and quickly."
"I've tried everything. I can say to you with confidence, I know a fair amount about LSD. I've never been a social user of any of these things, but my curiosity has carried me into a lot of interesting areas."
--Dan Rather in Ladies' Home Journal, July 1980 edition.
4."Rather was confronted about 11 p.m. while walking on Park Avenue. When he tried to walk away, he was punched from behind and knocked to the ground. The attacker then chased Rather into a building and kicked him several times in the back."

No man has has given more of himself, so shamelessly and at such personal cost to credibility, to prove that the MSM was nothing but a shameless organ whose sole purpose is to produce left-wing propaganda, with no journalistic standards whatsoever. Thanks Dan, we couldn't have proved it without you. Remember, we never laughed with you, only at you. RIP (Your career and legacy, that is. May you live long in the ignominy and shme you so richly deserve)

One of the talking heads yesterday guessed the 60 Minutes gig is just a cover, that if the Thornburg report is really hard on Rather, his 60 Minutes reports will be few and far between. Someone else reminded viewers of the following quote, which makes it seem as if Rather won't be welcomed with open arms at 60 Minutes: "In a further sign of the turmoil at CBS, some staff members at the original Sunday "60 Minutes" say their program has been unfairly blemished by the Wednesday spin-off, which began in 1999 as "60 Minutes II."
"I think it is safe to say that the overwhelming feeling among correspondents and producers on the Sunday program is that we would not have made the same mistakes," correspondent Steve Kroft said. He added: "It's hard to know at this point exactly what went wrong, because the Wednesday show is an entirely separate broadcast with entirely different people, and brand-new management. But something clearly went wrong with the process."

Maybe if enough folks send CBS enough emails, they will take him off 60 Minutes as well ???
