Most Cubans I know (and living and working in Miami, I knew many) speak English as a first language by the second generation, and speak Spanish with their parents or with business associates (I worked in commercial finance for South and Central America). Its just that certain idiots think every Spanish-speaker in South Florida, whether a Colombian banker with a second home or a illiterate Mexican laborer is "Cuban."

You may find it interesting that many Cuban-Americans in SoFla complain about the Haitian and Central Americans that have flooded the area over the past 15 years. They are more Americanized than you think.

Very true. I was born and raised in Miami (3rd generation). When it comes to the problems in the city, there is more than enough blame to go around the various communities.
