I just sent channel 10 an email message saying I am willing to give him my old family van. It has 85K miles and the passenger sliding door is a little bent but I will give it to him for free. Engine works great and the body still in good condition.
I was going to sell it after buying a new van but I am willing to give it to him.
"Most people with $1500 on them do not worry about transportation!"
Well I don't know about where you live, but here in NJ that could EASILY be two weeks pay, and a person would be far from rich. Despite what Mr. Kerry thinks. And if it is 1/2 month's pay, you're even further from rich.
I'd chip in for this guy too.
You are very generous. Let us know if he takes you up on the offer.
Let me know if I can send you gas money or title fee to help out.
He's right to be torn up--all the armchair general stuff aside, taking any human life is a bad thing--BUT he did the right thing every step of the way--let the creeps get out of the area where his kids are, then go after them. Criminals have to be reminded that they could die any second in the commission of a crime.
You may be showing your age and retirement status. $1500 in a metropolitan area isn't chump change, but it's not real money either.
I can't buy legal transportation for that where I am. Not with Tax, Title, License, User Fee, Bridge Taxes, Dunnage fee, Inspection fee, and about a zillion other government interferences to free ownership of property.

"Now I've lost our only means of transportation. How am I going to get back and forth to work?"
I can certainly understand why Mr. O'Neal is torn up. He is raising his daughters by himself and now he has lost his vehicle and may not be able to get to work. I would hope that there are some local good samaritans who will help this gentleman out.
Very unusual in a rural setting, unless it's around harvest time or time to buy a new tractor, and then it's likely to be tens of thousands in cash...
Get over the cash part. Honest folk carry thousands in cash on a regular basis.

You need that on your own property?
Here in Pennsylvania, anybody (non-criminal) can go up to the courthouse tomorrow and get a CC permit for (I think) $22. You don't need to take any courses, you don't need to state any reason for wanting a CC permit, and you don't need to identify the guns you wish to carry - - heck, you can get your permit even if you don't own a gun. (By the way, I would recommend to all Pennsylvania freepers that you should go get your CC permit tomorrow or as soon as you can. Takes about 15 minutes in the sheriff's office to fill out the simple form and your permit just needs ot be renewed every five years.)
But you never need any kind of permit here for having weapons on your own property or using them in defense of your home.
Watch over this case, don't let anyone hang this Man for political incorrectness. We'd best believe someone will try!
Let's see. I'm from New Jersey. Lived in Fairfield County, Ct & Boca Raton, FL. Now living in Las Vegas, which is known as a cash town.
Not retired either.
Are you always this wrong?
You should suggest he pay $1 for the van, so it is a legal sale, and he doesn't get racked for taxes!

Just cause, IMHO. Threaten me, my property or possessions, but my family, your going to get special attention.
This guy is courageous for chasing the perps down. I'm afraid the psycholiberals will try to demonize this man for trying to protect his family.
I stand by that. Dallas, Denver, LA. It's not chump change, but it's not real money to buy a vehicle with either.
And I'll stand by the rural part, too. Mostly Texas, some Arkansas, and too much Oklahoma. Lots of farmers with thousands in cash in the front pocket of their bib over-(hauls)alls.
Maybe you need to get out more, or associate with Americans that make real money and don't trust banks too much.
