It has a 10 round fixed magazine. This could be replaced with an abortion of a modified AK mag, but the entire trigger mech has to be disgorged to effect a clip change. I think that it needed to be limited to 5 rounds in some states to be legal for hunting.

All published info indicates he expended his 10 rounds and was out of ammo.

You only have to go to Yahoo and pull up the information regarding the older Hmong. What the article states is why they are here and there background because the older people listen to Shamans and such and that their beliefs are essentially that they make their own rules. The article further states as I did the younger generation does well in adapting to ways of the US.

While that may be what you learned about the Hmong, I have several that are good friends, including first generation Hmong. They are nothing like the caricatures you extrapolate off the internet. You may have read about the background, but most have come and adjusted well to life in the US. Every racial/ethnic group has a few psychos that take people's lives.

I've met several Hmong over the years. Every one of them has been a stright up person - albeit with an unusual sense of humor (yes, actually all of them). All of them have also been very patriotic Americans.

As an aside, those that were in Vietnam and did not come to the United States were largely killed off. Lost I heard, more of the Hmong now live in the U.S. than in SE Asia - though the numbers in China are not well known.

I think you mean Laos, not Vietnam. There are still a lot of Hmong in Laos. The ones that were killed were the ones that were allied with the US during the Vietnam War. Everywhere you go in Northern Laos you will see Hmong. It is impossible not to see them.

There were 100 times more injuries to hunters from falling out of tree stands than there were from being shot, intentionally or unintentionally.
By the way for those of you who do not know, the SKS does not have the ability to fire as a machine gun. It is a semiautomatic carbine. You have to pull the trigger each and every time you want it to fire. The 7.62X39 round that the SKS fires is considered barely adequate for deer hunting. It is a caliber that is mostly used on the smaller deer sized game at under 100 yards. Most rifle calibers used for hunting are much more powerful than this cartridge.
