The virus called humankind. (Wacko environmentalist hatres humans)

OK all, get a load of this crapolla. This guy thinks that humans are the scourge of the earth, we would be much better off without us pesky humans around to wreck everything.

"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I've realized that you are not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment. But you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus." --Agent Smith, from "The Matrix"

You know, he's right. We should all commit suicide.

And Bill Ferguson should set an example by going first.

A very ignorant view of nature, indeed. Obviously never seen overgrazed land, etc. No ecosystem is ever in equilibrium for long. The balance, for example, among and between prey, predators, and vegetation for food is subject to extremely wide fluctuation, and depends on outside variables such as weather and influx of other species. There are many examples of populations that exhaust a food supply and then move on.

I think we should start working right away on a vaccination, and then try it out on the author first to see if we got it right.

This silly "article" reads like a high school paper written by a smart aleck kid trying to get attention.

It's like that great Tom Clancy book: Rainbow Six. The wacky Enviros make a virus to wipe out all humanity except for themselves, the wacky enviros. That darn Sierra Club.

And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And in space
And in meaning.

Never trust the judgement of someone who gets their worldview from a drag queen movie.

I suggest that Bill Ferguson goes to mecca and finds his "equilibrium" there.

Firtsly, he starts off his article with a quote from a cyber-punk movie. *woooosh* there goes his credibility right out the window.

Secondly, all animals reproduce en masse near water supplies, not just humans.

Thirdly, he should read the Jurassic Park series of books. They offer another to view extinction than from "outside sources" without humans destroying the Earth. We destroy ourselves first, through change in behavior.

Ya know, the scary problem is, if this writer gets infected with the virus he/she/it is concerned about, he/she/it might continue to reproduce.

Reminds me of a guy at my school who was trying to start a nature habitat. He greatly despised human intrusion on traditional habitats (footprints, waste bins, railings, ect), so his habitat would be completely sealed off to all humanity for all of eternity....

He should consider joining the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (I kid you not.....)

From their home page... http://www.vhemt.org/

"Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth's biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense."

I guess it all depends on what they mean by "as we become less dense"

Words fail me.....

This is old, old, Malthusian, Earth First! bullsh*t. Unfortunately these people believe this crap. Living in a cave was NOT better and more pure unless you are in love with disease, parasites, pain, and a short life. Oh, and lets don't forget the casual and constant abuse of the weak by the strong.

Now that is what you call an ignorant statement. 'We' would be much better off without 'us'.

Someones taking the 'Matrix' for real. There's a part in it where it says 'Humans are a virus'.

Well, I've been called a lot worse by a lot better.
