Convicted sex offender Justin Farnsworth said he petitioned for custody of his two daughters and his girlfriend's daughter because he loved his kids and could provide the best home for them.
But the Hastings man, who had been convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old in 1994 and underwent sexual offender treatment, now admits he struggled to control the bad impulses and thoughts he had about his girlfriend's 9-year-old daughter.
Dakota County Judge Joseph T. Carter awarded Farnsworth, 31, primary custody of his two daughters in May and his girlfriend's child in October after a court-appointed evaluator said it would be in the best interests of the children. The mother, who had been investigated by Child Protection Services, agreed to the arrangement.

Uh-huh. Really?
No way. That defys all logic. More children will be destroyed when he experiences a slight relapse.
Looks like the judge had to weigh the lesser of two evils.
Except there are more than two options open here.
Shotgun or a cutlass came to my head
I don't think so! What about the foster-parents choice #3!
He has a new occupation all ready for him. He can advertise it as follows:
"babysitter available for liberal, open minded, tolerant and understanding parents who believe in giving everyone a second chance."
Think he'll get any clients?
3 evils?
This is some horrible story, but what I really wanted to say is: YOUR TAGLINE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
Blue state "family values". The judge that granted custody should be arrested.
Thanks!
excuse our state.
I live in a red county.
The former(?) child molester is found by the court to be a better parent? Just how f---ed up is the mom???
Anyone who believes this man should have his head examined.
That's right, there are options. What the heck has happened to American families these days? Why wouldn't grandparents or aunts/uncles be getting involved in situations like this?
A few weeks ago, I was at a methaphetamine community awareness meeting. During the Q&A period, more than one person said something like: "My daughter uses meth. The kids are at risk. I called the police and I called Child Protective Services and they haven't done anything. I'm worried about those children. What can I do to get them out of there?"
After the Dep't of Health representativeand the Police officer hemmed and hawed, I stood up and offered a politically incorrect alternative:
"Why in the world are you standing here talking about it? If it were my grandkids or my nieces or nephews in danger, I wouldn't think twice. You need to go over and take those kids and let them live in a safe, drug-free, loving home--your home. You don't leave them in a home with a drug dealing bad mother! Who cares if you don't have legal custody? You're the grandmother and you love them. That's good enough for me. Let your daughter call the cops."
Me too. McLeod County, 7th District. We're trying to make up for the Twin Cities.
SAY WHAT????
