Pistons fans are taking some flack for Friday night's brawl at The Palace.
Following the game, ESPN's John Saunders expressed his opinions about the fans' behavior.
"I'm here to tell you
that the Pistons' fans,
based on what I saw,
are a bunch of
punks."
- John Saunders, ESPN commentator
"I'm here to tell you that the Pistons' fans, based on what I saw, are a bunch of punks. It's easy to throw beer on top of somebody who's already down. It's easy to throw a punch at somebody when you're behind them," Saunders said. "Show us that you're not a sissy. Just do it right. It just makes me mad. It's ridiculous. It's the worst thing I've ever seen."
Players and fans exchanged punches in the stands as the game turned so ugly a police investigation was necessary.
Indiana's Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson charged into the stands and fought with fans in the final minute of their game against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night, and the brawl forced an early end to the Pacers' 97-82 win.
They may be punks, but the Pacer players are absolute idiots for what they did.
No disagreement here, but the thread is about the moron who started the whole thing by lobbing a cup of beer. Did you watch the video? The guy is a coward.
No kidding. Artest spent $5 million in ten seconds by going into the stands.
We've got to stop all this punk-on-punk violence!
...or should we?
Thank you
Watch the video, the pansy tries to sic his German Shepherd on the reporter.
He spent alot more than that by hitting the wrong guy. Wrong guy is gonna cash out. So is that 16 yr old ball boy O'Neal ran into and punched.
As many times as I look at that video, I still see lots of guilty people and few victims.
What is up with the incessant defending of these animals by the commentators on ESPN? The "average" comment goes something like this....."While I can't condone the act, you have to understand that these players get insulted in arena after arena, and sometimes players' tempers get the better of them."
Not that video but the one of the fight.
But the ESPN commentator may have a point about the spectators.
Artest from the Pacers is the real coward. He took a cheap-shot at Ben Wallace from behind and then hid behind his fellow players when Ben pushed him back and tried to come at him. Yet when some 145 pound guy tosses a plastic cup with some beer and hits Artest in the chest, he runs up into the stands after him. And then punches the wrong guy. Who, by the way, is still holding his cup of beer. Could Artest be any stupider?
Here's my opinion on this situation:

You'l have to excuse me, OC....I thought the entire city of Detroit was made up of punks - from the mayor on down.
not only that, they are garbage too!
Bet this guy had a Kerry/Edwards sign in his yard a couple of weeks ago. Funny his dog is almost as stupid as he is.
When I was at the August race at MIS a few idiots threw beercans on the track because the race ended under caution. I also saw a lot of other people carrying those idiots directly to security.
I was proud of my fellow fans that day.
Not from what I've seen of his behavior.
