Jeraldine Ferraro's remarks are amazing! In truth, within the Red or Kerry states (colored blue by the media), the counties with the best education mostly for Bush. At least that is true in NJ.
Educational level correlates roughly with Republican voting. Among the best educated people in the country are Mormons (I am not one), and their states are heavily Republican (check Idaho and Utah!).
Actually, to be very blunt, there is not a very strong correlation between intelligence and anything political. It seems that tradition and a sense of loyalty (for example, to family and country and religion) are more important.
Ferraro is just getting beset by hatred, and is starting to hallucinate. That happens when the blood temperature in the brain gets to high.
The idea of Ted Rall feeling superior to any other human being is, at the risk of understatement, laughable.
Even in Wisconsin, the majority of the state was red.

Thanks for the map links, now I wish someone would get all the relevant demographics data from each county, and show that the "reds" aren't a bunch of chromosomally challenged yahoos...
I think there is demographic information and statistics that might suggest otherwise, but I don't wanna touch it..
Ted, please tell me what FORM of government predominates where a large portion of it's society relies upon: 1.) Govt. Jobs 2.) Govt. Transportation 3.) Govt. Food 4.) Govt. Housing 5.) Govt. Schools 6.) Govt. Child Care 7.) Govt. Financial Assistance and 8.) Govt. Health Care ?????
Ted, what you got there is SOCIALISM and that s what you get with all those Big Blue cities. If thats what you consider paradise, you can have it. Problem is that you guys want us to pay for it and we're sick and tired of doing that!!

I never, never would think of demanding respect from anyone, particularly someone who does not seem to like me anyway. I value the respect of people I admire, or who mean something to me.
I value the respect of my family, most off all. But in the end, it is not what people think of me that counts.
Maybe it is better not to be a celebrity. I would not enjoy the shallowness of the company of people who go around currying "respect."

If you want to really know something about "crushing" those with whom one disagrees, you need look no farther than Communism, that progressive ideology, in the twentieth century. I guess for pampered American leftists "crushing," means not giving them the time of day, or President Bush filling his cabinet with people who actually agree with him. How much brutality can one liberal absorb?

How does this cartoonist know how I live? He might be surprised. I live about as well as I could ever imagine deserving. It's true that I do not eat souffle of hummingbird tongues very often, and I dress simply. But I live a very satisfactory life, and am happy with the things which count.
If I wanted to live someplace like New York, I could: but I would not live as well there as I do now, and I would not have the contentment of having some space around me.
The remarks of guys like that cartoonist fella don't really bother me, except for their ignorance and unkindness toward ordinary, plain, good people who just happen not to have his lifestyle.
This is the liberal idea of tolerance?

Yep. We lost Wisconsin to Skerry by less than 12,000 votes. If they keep pushing this Ohio recount, we should demand a recount for Wisconsin.

I live in Wisconsin (a blue state) and if one looks at the counties in the state where the majority voted for Kerry it was Milwaukee County and the Peoples Republic of Madison (our capitol).
I cannot even begin to tell you how liberal Madison is and in Milwaukee the African-Americans are now in the majority and the rest on the south side of Milwaukee County are holdovers that had fathers, grandfathers, etc., that were strong union members and have been voting Democrat for 50 years. Some of these people have seen the light of day--however, not nearly enough.
I was a poll worker in Milwaukee on Nov. 2nd and was assigned to the northwest side of City of Milwaukee and let me relate some of my experiences to you.
1)A man came in with a young boy that he said was his son and was born in Texas. This guy said his "son" was 19 years old. However, if this kid was 19, he has some real growth and hormonal problems. I swear he looked no older than 11. Well, his "father" raised his right hand and swore this was his son and he was in fact 19 yrs. and the kid was allowed to vote. A ballot was given to him and "Dad" took him into the voting booth because anyone could see he didn't have a clue as to what he was doing and "Daddy" assisted him.
There is a nursing home facility across the street from this voting place and in the afternoon a woman came in with five obviously mentally "challenged" people and stated these people wanted to vote. Here in WI, no matter what your state of mind is, you are allowed to vote. I assume it's true in the rest of the country. Also, in WI unregistered voters can register at the polls and are asked to fill out a registration card and identify themselves. The woman in charge filled out the cards for these poor souls and each voter must sign the card stating all the above statements are correct. You should have seen some of these signatures. I could a 2-year-old child a crayon and ask them to sign their name and it would be much better than these signatures. One man kept saying to anyone who would listen "I'm voting for Kerry, he's a great man."
He easily could have been programmed to say he was voting for Hitler as he was a "great man." All of these poor souls were like a group of kindergarten children on an outing and at one point I was standing at the machine where the ballots were pushed into and they all said with a big smile they were voting for Kerry. It was really pathetic how they were used.
To continue. In Wisconsin as I said before if a person is not registered he or she can show up at the voting place that his assigned to the neighborhood in which they live and fill out a Voter Registration card and with the proper identification vote that very day. Well, when a registration card was put before with some real hard questions such as "name", "address", "date of birth". They sat and looked at these cards as if they were written in Chinese. The problem was most of these people could not read. So, the poll workers had to point out where it said to put your name, next line was address and next line was DOB, and the number of the driver's license or WI ID card number or if not that at least a pay stub and utility bill.
Once this difficult task was completed, they were directed to a voting booth and we quickly found out most of them hadn't the foggiest idea of what they were doing. I believe I was the only one of the poll workers who had voted for Bush as more than one of my fellow poll workers were only to happy to make sure these people voted correctly.
I can tell you much more of what happened in Milwaukee County, but this posting is getting too long.
That tears it!! The comment Rall made about libs eating better was really upsetting. I'll have Rall know that I use ketchup with only about eighty percent of my meals. And I can make beans and franks with the best of them. My peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are legendary. Well, I guess I told him!!!
