There is an unusual feature to the second Bush Administration that is extraordinarily important but has been almost entirely overlooked. For the first time in a half-century, a two-term presidency will end without sending out its Vice President to seek a mandate for succession at the next election. Vice President Cheney will not run for the presidency, and everyone knows it. When these eight years are over, the Bush-Cheney Administration will simply close up shop.

Excellent indeed... Thank you for posting it...
BUMP!
Charles Krauthammer is a true visionary. I believe history will judge George W. Bush as one of Americas greatest Presidents. Thanks to us, together we all are making history.
Guess this somewhat puts an end to the Dems referring to
GWB as an idiotic retard. The man definitely has a plan.
Not sure I agree with the idea that there is NO Republican
in the wings ready to assume the candidacy in Nov, 2009. We've discussed several possibilities here at this site.
Oh man, libs will be pooping whole cows when they read this.
pingzies
Cheney will probably resign in a couple of years because of his health, and then we will have the next republican candidate.
And you know, there's just something about he name "Krauthammer" that is satisfying...
Unless Cheney decides to take an early retirement and Bush appoints a new VP.
A most probable scenario.
Rice in 2008?
Krauthammer's description of the "commanding heights of the culture" on Fox News Sunday was brilliant.
What an astute hypothesis and a perfect way to extend the Bush policies.

WOW! That's a visual!
Please include liquid warning before your next post. ;-)!
Just because Cheyney isn't running doesn't mean that some present or former cabinet official might not run in his stead as GWB's heir. The dynamic that Krauthammer says will not exist doesn't necessarily require a VP. Another possibility: What if Jeb ran? (I don't think that he will, but...wouldn't he be held to the standard of Bush's heir? You bet he would.)
>>Rice in 2008?<<
From your fingers to God's Ears.
Wouldn't she be the poopie in the punchbowl for Hillary?
hehehe!
bump
Ugh...speaking of visuals! ; 0
I missed it. Please elaborate.
