Why Bush Has No Fear [Krauthammer]
Time Magazine ^ | November 22, 2004 | Charles Krauthammer

There is an unusual feature to the second Bush Administration that is extraordinarily important but has been almost entirely overlooked. For the first time in a half-century, a two-term presidency will end without sending out its Vice President to seek a mandate for succession at the next election. Vice President Cheney will not run for the presidency, and everyone knows it. When these eight years are over, the Bush-Cheney Administration will simply close up shop.

Some combination of the four following:

Mark Sanford
George Allen
Condi Rice
Tim Pawlenty

can beat Hillary. A weak-spined RINO (McCain, Frist, Pataki, etc) cannot.

Seriously, on Pawlenty and Sanford, you raise valid points. However-

Clinton was a one-term governor in 1992, and he won. Plus, he'll have another election before 2008. Pawlenty shouldn't have a tough time, I don't know if the MN Democratic party has a decent candidate to run against him at this time or not, but he's part of the recent rightward shift in Minnesota politics. Both guys are unique and interesting enough to be valid candidates.

Just a hunch actually...but what I've read of her record and of Hillary's, I don't see them going for Hillary at all!

I stand corrected.

OK, so if they make good VP choices, who at the top? Romney? McPain? Rudy Giuliani?

I just don't want a RINO in 2008.

I am praying that "those around the world who were desperately hoping for his replacement and repudiation" ...... and are fearful.......... do not do something very radical as happened on this date (November 22) years ago to another president.

Oh, my friend, I've thought of that, too, and the thought is a scarey one! I just pray that our Lord surrounds our President with the best secret sercice agents that exist, along with angels from Heaven to protect him!

I think it will be a dark-horse candidate. Sanford could be that guy. Marc Racicot is another one. Mitt Romney of MA. Bill Owens - Gov. of Colorado (but he has marital issues).

I want to stay away from Senators. We need a Governor.

Haven't read thru' the threads yet, so don't know if anyone has yet posited a theory that has been bouncing around in my head for a year or so:

I call it my "What if?"

What if, "W" is moving fast and 'taking no prisoners' to get things into play now - and then, a coupla years from now, about the time his term would be 'termed' really-lame-duck ...what if Cheney then resigned and someone who would make an excellent candidate for 08 was put in?

;o)

Losers? The tax preparation industry and lobbyists.

The biggest loser to a Fed tax replacing the IRS would be the KGB syndrome of fear and control the IRS is used for.

Look for dims to fight this vigorously, it's a tool they depend on.

This is not a new idea - it's been in the wings for several years - but I think "W" is the maybe the only one strong enough to get it thru

This would one of the biggest tools for freedom we will see in our lifetimes

This is why Bill Clinton was so distraught and angry. He will forever be remembered as the administration before that of GW Bush.

I agree. It looks like even he can't fool himself anymore -

and he's folding in on himself, becoming a sad shell of himself

Politely and soft spoken always of course...but..unload nonetheless

This is the litmus test of those who speak the truth and those who rubber band it.

"Our guys" speak in an even tone and say what they have to say because they know they are speaking truth.

The libs screech and scream - like dictators - because they lie but think if they shout loud enough, they will be believed...

Hillary is more divisive and more controversial than Kerry ever thought of being. She will not be elected no matter how much MSM wants her in office.

right.

and she would not be able to dodge the press - and the public - like she did for her senate run. Ergo - her nastiness, Madam Shrill Shrew, would break out for all to see.

plus - she will have been pretty much out of the limelight for another 4 years - her shot has come and gone before it ever got here ;o)

I like Condi, but I prefer Sanford. Make Condi VP so she can serve as a foreign policy advisor to Sanford, who, being a Governor wouldn't have much experience in that area.

I'm with you. I prefer a strong man with all the terrorists around. How does he feel about illegals? I'm afraid Condi would follow Bush's policy on illegals.
