HAYWARD, Wis. -- A dispute among deer hunters over a tree stand in northwestern Wisconsin erupted Sunday in a series of shootings that left five people dead and three injured, officials said.
The alleged gunman, a man from the Twin Cities area, was arrested at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday at the Rusk and Sawyer County line, according to Sawyer County sheriff's officials.
The violence began shortly after a hunting party saw a hunter occupying their tree stand, Sawyer County Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle told KSTP-TV of St. Paul, Minn. A confrontation, and shooting, followed.

Where in Montana, do you know?
I've had one of my trigger groups reworked by Kivaari, and it breaks nice and clean. I've also glass bedded some SKS's. I take out the front sight post and turn it down a little so it doesn't completely cover a 12" target at 100 yds, and with a little concentration I can get 2-3 MOA with my open sights. I've never put a scope on an SKS, because they weren't really built for them; that's what my bolt action rifles are for.
Here in Minnesota, I know a few people who hunt with an SKS. And it is a capable deer gun, provided your range is 100 yards or less. For people who just want to shoot one deer for the season it's an attractive option ( the SKS ) since you aren't sinking 800-900 dollars into a rifle your only going to use once a year.
