Journalists and the CIA bomb out
The American Thinker ^ | Nov. 21, 2004 | Douglas Hanson

The CIA and its coterie of leak-recipient journalists have seriously damaged the public’s understanding of the terror dangers we face. Now that the public’s attention finally has turned to the threat of Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities, it is vital that everyone understand how a clever misdirection of focus has seriously understated the ability of the mullahs to produce atomic weapons.

Since Porter Goss embarked on the much-needed shake-up of the CIA, we’ve been treated to agency leaks to the legacy media from the proverbial “unnamed sources” in an attempt to persuade the American people that Goss will single handedly render the agency useless in supporting the War on Terror. Naturally, the reporters and their sources fail to account for the CIA’s decades-long incompetence in the counter-terror role.

But incompetence or lack of vigilance is only part of the problem.

I don't think anyone with common sense listens to the major media about anything -

But a watch on people and what is happening to every dept. in government should be top on the list of - do -

(Also with this change that hung up the Intel. bill - why is Rum. getting the blame - What is it that Hunter found? Which side is correct - ? I believe Hunter is good and am having problems with Rum. over the scout issue - His silence on the issue is someting - )

Whenever someone comes along - find out everything about them - and not take just the media's word on things. These people weren't born yesterday - they have a history - and it will be that history that will tell the real story - the new CIA guy included -

just my thoughts -

They do need a good arse-kicking. They've been working hand-in-hand with liberal journalists to undermine Bush and the war on terror from the beginning.

And, frankly, I suspect Tenet was behind it all.

I think that all of those weasels at CIA should have to prove their worth as an institution, or Goss should phase the whole place out. What have they got right in the last fifteen years?

I recall they were able to verify that yes, China has successfully stolen the designs of every nuclear warhead we possess. Joy. Though that may have been learned by the NSA, actually.

The America Hating liberal media, and their felony leak providers in the CIA should be locked away in prison and the key melted down for scrap and sold to their friends--, the Chinese!

The "liberal" agenda--, to "separate church and state;" promote homosexuality, encourage relationship instability ("free love"), easy divorce, feminism, and child rebellion; to burn the flag, undermine the military, sympathize with murdering terrorists, and defend bloodthirsty dictators; to promote "separate but equal" racism, advance Marxist class warfare under the banner of "diversity,"; undermine small business through targeted tax increases on entrepreneurs, pressing for more government regulatory control, and using false chicken little "the sky is falling green science" to attack capitalism.

And they accomplish much of this through their useful idiots in the main stream media outlets.

They are no longer to be referred to as the "major media". They are to be called the "Old Media"......remember......The Old Media, The Old Media, The Old Media.

I think the CIA needs an enema, and I think I see Porter Goss over there heating up the water.

Although I can't claim to have paid particular attention to the changes recommended by the 9-11 Commission or to the actual changes incorporated in the failed legislation, I do know that the Wall Street Journal was loudly urging that Congress slow down the process.

My own suspicion is that reducing Defense Department control of the intelligence service will open up avenues for it to truly become a rogue organization.

If the legacy media’s obsession with implosion-type weapons is a reflection of their CIA sources, it means intelligence estimates of Iran’s ability to produce a working nuclear weapon may be seriously flawed. Would the mullahs and terror chiefs be overly concerned about weapon efficiency and maximizing yield, or would they want a simple, almost foolproof design that is nevertheless able to kill tens of thousands of people? The answer is self-evident.

The author's thesis -- that the Iranis might be developing the simpler 'gun-type' bomb rather than a more complex 'implosion' device -- is worth considering. Certainly, the media isn't knowledgeable enough about nuclear weapons to think this thing through.

But there is another consideration, as well. Just whose technology are the mullahs using as the starting point for their warhead design? Probably Pakistani, one would think. And which design do the Pakistani warheads employ?

Anybody know?
