JEFF Greenfield of CNN spoke for many others at the Plaza Athenee lunch for Bob Colacello and his book, Ron & Nancy: Their Path to the White House. Greenfield declared himself a liberal Democrat, but spoke eloquently about the character and accomplishments of Ronald Reagan. Chris Buckley pointed out that Colacello, the founding editor of Interview magazine, is the only biographer in the world who went from Andy Warhol to Reagan. John Podhoretz and Larry Kudlow tried to figure out why ambitious Sen. Chuck Schumer is staying put, while Regis Philbin huddled with Diane von Furstenberg.

Oh goodness...what a surprise.
Greenfield started out in politics in the late '60s as an aide to Bobby Kennedy. Can't get much more liberal than that.
Interesting thing about Greenfield---you can tell he's a liberal---but his analysis actually seems downright even-handed most of the time when compared to many of his colleagues at CNN (Judy Woodruff, Bill Schneider, the insufferable Bruce Morton, etc.)
To me he's like so many other in the MSM. Somewhat evenhanded but every story has a left tilt. Not blatant but definately peceptable. Straighter than most on CNN, I will give him that
He probably feels liberated now that he's not a closet liberal. Flaunt it Greenfield, you're free at last.
He used to write for the National Lampoon back when PJ O'Rourke did.
I saw a Frontline special on John Kerry and George W. Bush, and Bruce Morton had the "esteemed honor" of interviewing John Kerry right before his infamous Senate testimony. Morton hasn't changed much in 34 years.
I do not watch CNN very often, but from what I have seen and heard of Greenfield in the past, I concur.
I agree he's pretty even-handed. Bill Schneider on the other hand gets giddy as a schoolgirl when the polls he attends to look favorable to Democrats. Especially with his rapport, big grin on his face, excited tone in his voice, and his penchant for squirming in his chair with excitement.
I do remember Schneider's initial reaction to the Gore's Florida recount was negative. I did appreciate him for that although I can't stand the guy.
I dunno if I believe that, because I simply can't stand Schneider, no matter how even-handed he seems.
As for Woofwoof, Blitzed and Schneider.....aaaaccccccckkkkkkkkk
"is the only biographer in the world who went from Andy Warhol to Reagan. "
Warhol was the ultimate capitalist. His art was churned out on an assembly line process. It's funny how people around him seemed oblivious to his drive for profit and thought it was all about the art. He was actually pretty up-front about the fact that he was selling a product.
LOL....you must have been dreaming if Freepers posted that Bill Schneider is a republican.
Bobby Kennedy clearly had his flaws, but it was still possible to believe that he actually meant the things he was saying. He might have turned out just as corrupt and evil as his brother Ted, but he might not have.
I won't condemn someone because they worked for Bobby Kennedy. Working for Teddy is automatic disqualification to being a human, but not working for Bobby.
My definition of the type of conservative that I am is a "cynical liberal." I belive in the things that Bobby Kennedy spoke about, even in the things that someone like Harold Ford Jr. speaks about today (sometimes). I just don't believe that leeches like Teddy or Billary or little Tom are actually trying to achieve those "lofty ideals."
Bobby will forever be in that quantum "uncollapsed state" of potential. He might have transcended the things that make liberals today such thugs and putrid turds. He might have actually done something. We'll never know, thanks to a Palestenian terrorist working for Yassir Arafat.
Irony isn't strong enough a word.
I remember hearing Schneider say once on CNN many years ago (way back when CNN was the only news channel) that he was a Republican. I was quite surprised but not as surprised as when Geraldo, back in the days when he was on CNBC, mentioned that he too was a Republican.
Check out post #17.
I sense missing elements. Here they are:
Greenfield declared himself a liberal Democrat, but spoke eloquently about the character and accomplishments of Ronald Reagan, now that Reagan is dead, and it can't make any difference the the present liberal Democrat agenda.
There.
