Of course the UN knew about it. I remember seeing media reports saying that Saddam was demanding a under the table surcharge for the oil. I'm flabbergasted that this is big news. Everybody is acting like this is new news, like Tom Cruise says in Collateral.

It was forced to pay a Jordanian trucking company to move its wheat around Iraq. That trucking company was selected by Saddam.Kickback imbedded!

Most of the world seems unwilling to connect the dots!
A Jordanian banker said it was an open secret that contracts were inflated so Saddam could take 10 per cent. "We knew it was there," he said. "(But) actually, it's not our business, you know. Banks are (only) interested in their money, and to make money."
Euroweenies are like Bankers....

Yes of course Fox has been leading the way....but now all of a sudden it is starting to take off in other countries. Maybe the world will finally wake up to the fact that the UN is no friend to anyone.

The BBC just woke up !! I'm underwhelmed!

The UN doesn't have a reputation to protect.
The entire international minor official left is a racket. They do whatever the Party tells them to do, for bribe money. They do not have any principles and never have. The ones willing to bribe them are barbarian tyrants. Consequently, the international left is a publicity machine for barbarian tyrants. Has been for decades. Since Joe Stalin.

"The UN is fighting for it's reputation"
BALDERDASH! I grew up with the UN and supported it in spirit (and taxes) for lots of years. No more. Either reinvent it or just get rid of it. The tail is wagging the dog...just like they tried to do it here on NOv 2. It will happen here too if we aren't careful. If you do not contribute to society, you should not have a vote. The UN is precisely living down to it's reputation. No more money. Give the money to the missionaries who will spend it on the people...teaching them how to fish instead of giving them a fish... And send Kofi back to Africa in the disgrace he deserves

Sounds like the traditional new york mob style of doing business and keeping the peace.

I thought Christina Rosett (sp?) of the WSJ was first.

This coverage is ridiculous, as the UN was instrumental in setting up the program in the first place. The UN is and has been corrupt. Any program that is UN driven is likely corrupt BY DESIGN.

I thought Christina Rosett (sp?) of the WSJ was first. Could be, I would be curious to see how this truly big story develops in that the left love to dismiss Fox and other "right wing" news sources as irrelevant for "real news"... yet who in taking the lead and who is dragging their feet... like memogate
