WASHINGTON U-S Customs officials have detained two passengers from an Air France flight bound for Dulles International Airport near Washington.
Transportation Security Administration officials say the plane was diverted to Bangor, Maine because they discovered that one of the passengers is on the U-S no-fly list. The plane eventually flew on to Dulles - arriving more than two hours late.
T-S-A spokeswoman Yolanda Clark says the other person detained was traveling with the banned passenger. Both are in the custody of local law enforcement in Bangor.
She says T-S-A is investigating why the passenger was allowed to board the plane in Paris.
Passengers, who didn't know there was a problem until they crossed into U-S air space, say everything went smoothly. Some were alarmed when they heard about the incident.
Why are they always diverted to Banghor Maine,is it because it's a blue state?HAHAHAH!
Self-ping for the morning.
Cat Stevens and friend....?
I think the real question is, why did the French allow the passenger to get on the plane?
Even after Richard Reid, the shoe-bomber, their security is lousy.

France is like a malignant cancer. Incurable. Hopeless.
Every thing about France is lousy. They smell, their wine is sour, the women do not shave and worst of all, they are arrogant bastards. I worked in Europe for 6 months; and I seen these people up too close for comfort. .
I was told once that planes coming from Europe don't fly straight across, but at an arc, so Maine in the first US land they would encounter. Don't know if it is true, but...

Doesn't take much effort to verify that.
Take a globe (you do have a globe don't you?), and pull a string between origin and destination. It is a straight line on the globe but a curved line on most flat maps.
"Why" is a whole other discussion.
True, however, it's an arc on a flat map but not on a sphere.
Because TSA= Totally Stupid A$$holes!
These twits detained me for over an hour combined between the ticket counter and the gate check point back in September.
BTW I'm a white male born in the U.S.A. 6'1" 250# with proper I.D.,My Father worked for AA for 35+ years and My Sister currently works for AA- both longer than the Idiots that harrassed Me have been alive, heck I'm older than these dipwads were.
I'll DRIVE where ever I need to go from now on and I grew up on planes...
Yes, this is true...and what a WIDE arc you make--over LOTS of frozen, uninhabitable tundra. I always prefer to close my shade over Greenland. :-)
If I was living in Banghor, I wouldn't like it. It's like, well we know you got bad stuff on board, you can't go anywhere in the US except Banghor ,Maine....
Plus they have an appalling lack of command of the English grammar and punctuation.
Next time, grow a beard, wear Muslim headdress, hold a Koran in your hand, and nobody will dare bother you.
You can thank Mineta.

IN this particular instance the French were at fault. I am sure we provided them with the no-fly list, which they ignored, and let this potential terrorist on the plane.
LOL! the bad part is You ARE CORRECT.
