What I think doesn't matter, but I said as much in post #792.
According to the Chilenos, our Secret Service knew the plan and agreed to the plan 6 months ago. Leaders only enter the main door, security enters the building elsewhere. Either we should have clearly communicated and gotten agreement on an exception, or President Bush should not have attended.
To me, it looks like the communication broke down somewhere. Either we forgot that our SS guys couldn't go through the front door, or the Chilenos are lying about the agreement (that every other country attending the summit was following).
I am asking you to exercise your common sense. If you do that, I think you will have to agree that the President is safer with agents protecting his front and his rear when he is entering an area such as a room. Given that, I really don't care what the Chileans say or what any other leaders agreed to. Those other people aren't the President of the United States, which means that, whatever the Chileans are saying, they were way out of line - a fact which is perhaps best demonstrated by what the President ended up having to do vis-a-vis the Chilean police.
Why do I have the suspicion that you also support the UN?
GWB may have decided that his people do not enter through the back door.
I just watched the video and from what it showed of the other leaders, there were no SS, (body guards) that even attempted to enter. They did not even pull their vehicles up to the entrance, they went to a different location of the parking area.
