Me too! But one thing I do know, this couple has got more prayers going up for 'em than any other world leaders now. That counts for something.
Still would love to see the uniforms to go with the angels.
"The way he was holding me, with my head against his chest, it felt like he was trying to protect me," Ashley said. "I thought, 'Here is the most powerful guy in the world, and he wants to make sure I'm safe.' I definitely had a couple of tears in my eyes, which is pretty unusual for me."
When Ashley told the world that the President would protect us she wasn't just talking smack.
Thanks to your son-in-law, from me and my family, for his service to our country.
The more I think about it, the more impressed I am.
Me, too!

Dang, you summed that up really well! :-)
Kerry would have called the French to ask for permission to protest the incident, strongly.
Know that the USSS is a burden upon visited countries. Brazil flipped out over SS demands over Clintoon's presence at some summit in Rio in the late 90s... you know, American arrogance, and all that. But the SS was just doing its job, and damned well. Sadly, Clintoon didn't stand down the criticism, or uphold his agents. (Those agents I've met have trouble hiding their disdain for the Clintons). There is a necessary in-your-face Americanism to the SS mission to protect the President. The difference here is that the President made no apologies for it; he didn't shy from it.The Secret Service is focused on this one task and is relentless about it, meaning they do it well and take no feces. The only time I was pizt at Ken Starr was when he tried to subpoena them. Even though none of them liked Clinton, they were not about to do such a thing.
Of course, one of the main reasons Lew Merletti quit was because Bildo even put them in such a position.

>>>"Folks, this is scary."
I agree most heartedly. I first thought this might have been a test of our security and possibly an attempt on his life.
Remember, this is the liberal government of Chile. The conservative government, under Pinochet, has long melted into the background. Chile has been deterioriating in terms of Economic Freedom over the last 8 years or so.
We also know that Argentina, their neighbors next door, had a big Muslim attack on a Jewish center not that many years ago.
The Secret Service agent should be given a raise, and Bush should be congradulated for doing the right thing: protecting his own life in this dangerous world.
Hats off to both of them. If I were Bush I'd ask the Chileans to see the names of the security detail in charge.

Several years ago, very shortly after 9/11, he and Laura went on a foreign trip. I can't remember where it was to, but he kept Laura VVVEEEERRRYYYY close to him throughout the trip. He was obviously very concerned for her safety.
Ohio, do you remember the details?
I am pretty sure you're "big time folks" to those troops you've been supportin'...I know President Bush would think so too!

When does the congressional investigation begin.
"Bush interfere's with Chilean Affairs"
Kerry and the Toon would have hidden behind their ballbearing women.
That's the President, in the middle of the pic!
I think it's neat that he tells people he feels their prayers and appreciates them. I've written the Pres. and Laura several times telling them (among other things) that we're praying for them. I received a personally signed letter from each of them. So I KNOW it matters to them that they have our prayers.
Knowing the President will protect us is what won him the Presidency--and THANK GOD he did!
