Why's HE a jerk?? SHE'S the one who refused to do as she ws told.

Bull sh*t.

When Acevedo's phone subsequently sounded, Alamia called the teenager forward and asked, "Did you think I was playing with you?"

She responded, "No. I thought I had turned it off."

She clearly didn't refuse.

You know how many times I have shut off a cell phone and it either came right back on and I accidently failed to fully depress the button? This GD arrogent tax paid judge is an AH who should not be where they are. This is down right scary sh*t.

The judge is the one who ought to be thrown in jail.

"This is down right scary sh*t. "

What's just as scary is that people are defending this guy. If I was convicted for everytime I forgot to turn off the cell ringer I would have a lengthy criminal record by now.

"If you don't know how to shut it off, go outside and introduce it to the heel of your shoe, he said according to a transcript.

You know how many times I have shut off a cell phone and it either came right back on and I accidently failed to fully depress the button?

Maybe you need to take the Judge's advice next time.

Perhaps your mother should take your cell phone away until you learn how to turn it on and off. Maybe your computer too!

I'll defend to the death your right to be wrong. Throw the judge in jail, are you series? What for?

You're making excuses for the criminal, and want the judge punished, I'm sure glad you're not in charge, no offense.

Since it's being investigated, we'll just have to see what happens. The judge is NOT automatically a jerk until proven one.

Anyone who doesn't know where the "off" button on a cell phone is, shouldn't be allowed to have one.

Then you are either incompetent or need to read your owners manual again. It is child's play to turn off a modern cell phone. It is very clear when my cell phone is turned off - the display turns off. As in dark, no light, no display, no nuthin. I've had it for 3 years and it has never, ever "come right back on".

This GD arrogent tax paid judge is an AH who should not be where they are. This is down right scary sh*t.

Nonsense. He is responsible for maintaining order in his courtroom. The brat failed to believe him when he told everybody to turn off their cell phone (which he is entitled to do in his courtroom), and she paid the price as a result. Bravo to the judge.

The judge gave them instructions that if they weren't sure how to turn if off to destroy it. You don't need a cell phone inside a court room. You don't need a cell phone at all. The only AH's around here are you and the other AH who don't want anyone telling you what to do. Grow up you AH.

You are just wrong calling the Judge the name you have. Is it too much to request that there be locations where Cell phones and Pagers don't interrupt the process? If they needed to really get a hold of the "young lady", they could have left a message and she could have called them back when she could turn the phone back on. I hate hearing cell phones in Church, the theater, and many other public and semipublic places. I really hate when someone answers the phone and talks loudly to the other person - especially when we were in the middle of a conversation. Must be one reason why I refuse to continue a conversation when someone answers the other line (call waiting). If the conversation is important, let the caller leave a message.

How rude can people be to keep their phone on in court. You are there for one reason, to pay attention to what is going on in the court room, not whose on the phone.

She clearly didn't refuse.

don't know how clear that was. I don't have teenagers, but, from what I hear, they aren't always sincere.

"She clearly didn't refuse"

She obviously did refuse or the phone would have been silent.
