I never check my contempt at the door; other than employees and sicko spectators there are few willing attendees in your average courtroom.

The Judge told everyone to turn off their cell phones and they all did but her.

Yeah, and our laws say you cannot enter this country illegally.

Yet millions do, at will, routinely, and the government and their agents, ie: Judges, law enforcement and congress demand that we pay of this epic lawlessness to the tune of BILLIONS of tax paid dollars.

This will eventually turn this country on it's head. Bet the rent.

She actually spent NO additional time in jail for this offense.

Technically, she might have spent one extra night in jail, since she was sentenced for the drug charge the next day.

You are exactly right. The girl was clearly in contempt of court and deserved what she got.

Those on this forum who think the judge acted improperly are in contempt of reason. IMHO.

And there it is. It's all about them damn Messkins, ain't it, Joe?

Er no. It's about laws, courts, regulations etc.

And our laws say you cannot enter this country illegally.

But that was a nice attempt to bring race into it, like any good leftist would.

Jail, not prison, you dodo. She's in for 45 days (concurrently!) anyway for drugs, so what about that, eh? She played, now she's paying.

In the end, sitting in jail just may be the wakeup call she needed. I know of some who had lackadaisy attitudes about authority and responsibility and time in jail snapped them out of it. The previous slap-on-the-hands wasn't enough. Others who refused to learn are on their way or are in prison.

"Utmost Certainty" is 20 years old.

I remember when I was twenty. I thought I knew everything then too.

"There were a couple of readers on here that understand the word 'concurrent', for you others ...she got NO added time!!!!!!!!!!"

Not sure that matters to some people.

"PS: If you want to see "jerks" who abuse their power, how about liberal activists who create legislation from thin air with their rulings."

I'll agree to that. The difference is that dems. don't speak out when their colleagues abuse their power. They look the other way or even endorse it. I believe we're better than that.

No doubt she probably received the drugs from the *tons* of drugs being brought in through the open borders, along with the millions that are entering illegally, routinely, at will, as our government stands winking and nodding.

I think it will bring more people to take responsibility for their actions when they know there will be a consequence. Why not? Think about it. Seems people break the law anytime they want and then get upset when they are punished. We cant' just always do whatever we want to do. It doesn't work that way. There are laws and there is authority. We must abide by laws otherwise there is chaos. Take the terrible events of the basketball game last night. Someone could have been killed...just because players and fans did what they wanted to do instead of practicing self control. You just can't do those kinds of things...you just can't and that is the kind of thing that protects you and me. There has to be some kind of order in our lives beginning when we are little children so we grow to know right from wrong.

I wasn't speaking litteraly. I was saying that maybe it is easy for you to say that because you have no idea what it is like in jail.

She won't feel it, as it's running concurrently w/ the drug sentence.

"not yet, at least until the cellphone police catch me. If I knew judge alamia personally he certainly would be no friend of mine."

Then your opinion is based on diddley.

Oh, for pete's sake. If you want to keep pounding that issue here... I don't see where someone held a gun to her head and told her to take the drugs.

This judge wasn't ignoring any laws pertaining to the charges against the girl...he has nothing to do with illegal immigration, he's a lower court judge and handles things like traffic violations, petty theft and araignments to higher courts, depending on the charges. Your question in invalid as pertaining to this thread

The arrogant judge asked her if she thought she was playing games, and the teenager stated "I THOUGHT I DID TURN IT OFF"

Evidently, the 17 year old shouldn't have a cell phone, or maybe you either, since one or both of you don't really know how to control it. Ya think?

You're another one that doesn't get it.

Millions enter our country illegally, at will, routinely, and the government stands winking and nodding yet the governement, ie: Judges, law enforcement, congress etc demands and forces us to pay billions for this lawlessness, or else we are sent to jail too.

Do you not see a broken picture here?

Do you not see the ultimate, glaring hypocrisy here?
