You notice the video execution of Mrs. Hassan that Al Jazerra has is not going to be broadcast. I mean, why show the true face of the fascist putting a bullet in the head of a helpless innocent woman. It just doesn't help the cause.

Kidnappings and killings have become a way of life for ordinary Iraqis since the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime,

I think Hassan's "kidnapping" was a semi-elaborate ruse.

Someone wanted her dead so she couldn't testify to the ways in which the Oil-for-food program failed to help the Iraqi children. Hassan was in a unique position to know how the children suffered.

Killing her outright would have drawn attention to her potential value as a witness.

By "taking her hostage," her murder was hidden in plain sight.

Now she is "just another unfortunate kidnapping victim who was killed.
