(McCain assails robins!)McCain's 'Global Warming' Hearings Blasted
CNS News ^ | November 19, 2004 | Marc Morano

Recent U.S. Senate hearings into alleged global warming, chaired by Arizona Republican John McCain, were among the "most biased" that a noted climatologist has ever seen - "much less balanced than anything I saw in the Clinton administration," he said.

(----excerpt -----)

The Arizona senator also "is trying to define himself as an environmental Republican, which he is going to use to differentiate himself from his rivals for the nomination in 2008," according to Michaels.

(-------excerpt------)

McCain also warned about what he saw as the rapid pace of Arctic warming, evidenced by the arrival of wildlife that had never previously been seen in the region. "The Inuit language for 10,000 years never had a word for robin and now there are robins all over their villages," he told the Times.

(----excerpt-----)

Marlo Lewis, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said ".. if robins are making their first appearance in Arctic areas, it means the robin's habitat is expanding."

"I always thought environmentalists liked birds. To me this is good news," Lewis added.

'Playing the media'

Michaels lamented that the media are allowing certain government-funded scientists to manipulate science for funding advantages. "Scientists are playing the media because they know the media will publish a story that the world is about to end," he said.

Baliunas noted that the media like to imply that the overwhelming majority of scientists believe in dire "global warming" scenarios. In fact, she said, "The scientific literature is full of skepticism. The only problem is -- one doesn't get the call from the newspapers and those [skeptical] quotes don't get included."

Lewis of the CEI added, "The embrace of government and government funding corrupts whatever it touches and that is certainly the case of the scientific process."

It used to be that everyone talked about the weather but no one did anything about it. Now that we have Senator McCain and that is all about to change. Ah, progress! Besides a debilitating national debt, overwhelming balance of payments deficit we now have a plethora of environmentalism spewed by Presidential wannabees to keep us cognizant that our Congress is worth its wages.

Senator McCain does best with the MSM. Perhaps, I have been unfair and his motive is not actual change in law but a change in the hearts of the MSM.

McCain has taken the first step in his bid for the Presidency in 08'. Now he has four years to put on about 100 pounds so he looks like Al Gore, since he co-opted Al's "Earth in the Balance". Since he's a good friend with Don Imus he's assured of his endorsement and you know what that's worth. I would recommend that the Senator contact his old buddy Charles Keating and get the fund raising underway now!

I wonder if he would have the nerve to bring up his Campaign Reform legislation during the next election. If I was him I would take the Kerry route and run on his Vietnam record that worked.

John McCain is a hero. But don't stand in front of an ice field and make statements that sound like your an expert on the subject just to reach the Green Party. McCain is not one of the would be canidates I would consider supporting in 08' In fact there is not one Senator that I would support dem or GOP.

Is John McCain a hero? Like John Kerry, there may be more to the story than the well constructed history everybody knows so well.

Learn the facts and make up your own mind

I'm sorry, but running up a huge deficit and destroying the planet are anathema to any REAL conservative.

A: as a percentage of GDP, the debt is not that large.
B: destroy the planet? huh??

McCain has about as much chance for the presidency as I have for sainthood. The only scenario that might work would be for him to change parties.

Running up a huge deficit...." Those acquainted with American history will recall that such a claim, and the doom that is sure to follow, has been regular fare since 1933.

I will continue taking potshots at McLame as long as he keeps championing liberal causes. If you're defending him and Hagel together, I strongly suspect you're a troll.

I don't support anyone who uses junk science to gain political identity. Kyoto is a system for bankrupting the USA, by forcing us to buy pollution credits from countries that don't have enough industry to pollute anything. George Bush holds this same view. If you are a REAL conservative, as you claim, you know why the deficit is there, and you know how to get rid of it, without stealing from the SS fund. You need to educate your self more on the man you hang you passion on. Things are seldom what they appear to be...

I don't know about McCain in '08. He'll be 72 by then and I don't think the US elects geezers anymore.

Why can't this idiot go away. McManiac makes the case for his pro-abortion stance-his life. Our party would be far better off without him.
