Just a thought ( I'm not competent to make a scientific comment ! ): A parallel situation existed in archaeology, with a hard-core scientific "establishment" insisting there could not possibly have been "pre-Clovis" humans living in North America.

This establishment ridiculed, and attempted to ruin anyone who presented hard evidence that disproved their conclusions.( Some of them are still balking, years later !)

Yesterday's "established scientific truth" has a way of becoming tomorrow's discarded notion, and it only makes sense to re-check the evidence.

I know what you're saying is true. I hope cold fusion gets some vindication and respectability but even the people involved in the field say the experimental record isn't good.

You must be talking about Louis Leaky. The man was regarded as the father of modern archeology till he suggested humans in America earlier than was accepted. At that point the archaeological community savaged him, called him insane and drove him into seclusion.

Very, very true. What truly paradigm shifting scientific discovery hasn't been preceeded by the skeptical tut-tuts from the "nattering nabobs of negativism". I'm not competant to comment on the science but I AM well versed in history and it is repleat with instances of all-knowing "scientific" naysayers who were later proven to be fools.

Keep at it guys.

A few years ago there was a big hubbub about the average body temperature of humans. Apparently it was the first time a check had been done since the late 1800s. Among other things it took them all summer to figure out that it wasn't that average body temperatures had change over the hundred years, but that the original study results were rounded to the nearest degree Celsius. ...Seemed obvious to me. :)
