Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but the OH Secretary of State's election results page is now updated and shows Bush with 76,631 votes and Kerry with 59,710. This seems to be around the number of provisional votes many expected would be validated, but I haven't seen any reports on the final tallies of these votes anywhere. Are these the provisional ballots? Does anyone know? If so, this is great news for everyone who doesn't have the last name of Olbermann.
OK, now I see that they're reporting this as 2.1% of the precincts reporting. Again, I don't quite understand why they've updated it in this way, but take it FWIW.
I went to the site and noticed this...
'Precincts Reporting: 2.71% '
did not Kerry have to gain 137,000 votes to beat Bush?
Yeah, there's no way that Kerry is going to overtake Bush, but it does seem that most of the counties have been zeroed out on the OH SoS website. Guess they're purging the data or something...but this doesn't look to be the provisional balloting. Just curious to see what the final results will be. Sorry all.
Is there a recount of the whole state?

This is the official Ohio Secretary of State Page
The Ohio SoS site is posting nonsense. Perhaps an FR admin should be advised to remove this thread as a non-story?
Did you click on the county link on the Provisional Ballot Page? Bush is winning 70% to 30% in CLINTON COUNTY!!

The above is the regular ballot site.

This is the Provisional Ballot site which shows only those counties which have been counted.
I am guessing those are final totals for ALL ballots in counties that have reported provisionals. (i.e. votes from election day + absentees + provisionals, ONLY for those counties that HAVE reported provisionals)
They clearly aren't provisionals only, because it is listing 137,000 votes, but the large counties (Franklin, Cuyahoga, etc) haven't reported any ballots yet when you go into county breakdown.
For example, in Adams County, 11,735 votes were reported on election night. In the new data, Bush gains 173 votes and Kerry gained 91 votes. The total new vote count is 11,999. (Adams is a very conservative county that voted for Bush by 2:1.)
You get a similar situation in Clinton County, for example, with provisionals falling roughly in line with total vote count. Athens County, however, is unusual because their new vote count is same as original vote count.
The heading says "election night" must be an old post...the latest update is here www.ohvotesuppression.blogspot.com it's a lefty sight but the data is valid
There are two postings of data on the Ohio election site:
preliminary results (match CNN)
http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/results/index.html
new results for select counties
http://election.sos.state.oh.us/results/RaceDetail.aspx?race=PP
I should add that these initial results look very good for GWB (as if it still matters.. haha) because provisional counts are basically matching the election night count. There had been talk in the Kerry campaign that provisionals could fall 80-90% for Kerry, given the different "demographics" of provisional voters.
that's very clever double entendre... "W.. On" (as in "Rock On)... and "W... Won"
People, what this shows is NO SURPRISES, and that's a very good thing. A few precincts have reported completing 1) their evaluation of what provisional ballots were valid and 2) how they voted. Despite being few in number, their results are utterly crushing. The provisionals are splitting the way the regular election day votes did. There is no huge bias for Kerry. Kerry voters were not disproportionate users of Provisional ballots. There is no way for Kerry to catch up. What appeared to be true November 3 when he surrendered, remains true.
It's over. It's truly over. Bush's lead is expanding in Ohio. The big Democrat counties have not reported yet, but the mountain they have to climb is now mathematically unclimbable. There is no miracle lurking for them in any sort of ballots, absentee, provisional or "spoiled". Nor in the courts. There is no evidence enough of their voters were even mildly obstructed from voting to make any difference at all. They spent all those millions of dollars and if there were long lines that they felt were a problem, they should have brought out coffee and donuts and porta-potties. They didn't. They are failures. All of them. They lost. They failed to deliver votes.
Bush won.

Here is the link to how many provis... in each area...
He wins.
ten of thousands of provisional are thrown out - bogus. And the rest are braking for Bush.
We win.
What needs to be done is not recountint but following up on all those provisionals. I'd like to know who those provisional were mostly for...and if as I suspect - there's your fraud story. And these people need to be loudly investigated which will put a bit of a chill into illegal voting next time around.
Is there anyone up there in Ohio that can contact the Republican party and get a lead on who most of the INVALID provisionals were for?
Your right.
And all this BS is just that. We win. We won. But we still have to keep a eye on the dims. And the du freaks should be fun to watch loose again .
We get to gloat twice .
That number is not the total number of provisional ballots, but the total number of votes in the counties that have reported their new numbers that includes absentee and provisional ballots. The current provisional ballot total is just under 140,000 and will continue to shrink as more counties continue to toss out bad ones from mainly democrats that were not registered to vote.
There was over 155,000 provisonal ballots. Over 15,000 have allready been tossed out, mainly in heavily democratic counties like Cuyahoga & Lucas. If things continue to go the way there going, Bush Counties will have more provisional ballots to count than Kerry ones. Clearly because there was higher levels of non-registered voters trying to vote in democrat counties, and more of the ones in Republican counties were registered and valid new voters that came out to support marriage.
But regardless of the number of provisional ballots, like others have reported, the results will be consistent with the way the election day voters voted. So in counties that Bush won by 60-70%, he'll get about the same percent, and the same goes for Kerry gaining votes in the ones he won. Such as in Warren County which hasn't been added to the total, Bush took 69% of the votes, gaining 868 votes.
Kerry will only gain votes in about 17 counties, while Bush based on the statistics should gain votes in 71 counties that he won. Thus based on my caculations, when all the provisional and absentee ballots are counted, Bush's margin of victory increases by 1,564 votes at the least. He'll gain even more if a higher percentage of ballots are rejected in democrat counties, which appears to be happening based on the current data. So Bush will win by even more votes, which is clearly why Kerry decided to concede so quickly.
Current projected provisional ballot breakdown by candidate:
Bush 70,886
Kerry 69,322
Bush + 1,564
There he goes stealing even more ballots...... /sarcasm off.
