GEERT WILDERS, the Dutch MP and controversial critic of Islam, has two policemen by his side even when in his high-security parliamentary office in case someone tries to decapitate him. Each day, he does not know where he is going to sleep that night, as he is taken from safe house to safe house in a convoy of armoured cars.
He was taken into hiding when police investigating the murder of the film-maker Theo van Gogh on November 2 uncovered a network of radical Muslims with advanced plans to kill Mr Wilders, and other enemies of Islam. A video circulating on the internet offered 72 virgins in paradise to any Muslim who beheaded him.
My life has changed completely. I am sleeping very badly. To think that someone plans to kill me is something that no person would have a good nights rest about, he said. Even though I have this protection, I am afraid. Even when I am on the floor of the parliament, I dont feel comfortable.
The maverick parliamentarian, a former speech-writer for Frits Bolkestein, the Dutch European Commissioner, rose to prominence with his denunciations of radical Islam. Seen as the heir of Pim Fortuyn, the assassinated anti-Islamic populist, his critics call him a far-right racist, inflaming the passions that led to a spate of mosque burnings after Van Goghs murder. His supporters claim that he is telling the truth about radical Islam that others refuse to face up to.
His hardline message is proving popular with the Dutch electorate, whose attitudes have hardened so much in the past fortnight that, according to one survey, 40 per cent hope that Muslims no longer feel at home in the Netherlands. On Monday he will set up his own political party. Opinion polls suggest that it would be the countrys second-biggest, getting 15 per cent of the vote or 23 seats of the parliaments 150.
Two critics of Islam have been murdered in the Netherlands, and Mr Wilders is one of three Dutch MPs under permanent police protection after half a dozen were issued with death threats. It is a huge change for the tolerant, consensual country that until recently boasted that its prime minister could cycle down the street in public.
The problem, Mr Wilders preaches, is too much tolerance. I believe we have been far too tolerant for too long, especially being too tolerant of intolerance, and we only got intolerance back.
With radicalism spreading among the countrys one million Muslims 5.5 per cent of the population Mr Wilders wants the top 150 known terrorist sympathisers, monitored by the security services, to be jailed or deported without trial, and the 20 most radical mosques closed down. He also wants a ban on all non- Western immigration for five years while better employment and education opportunities are put in place to integrate ethnic minorities into mainstream society.
I believe people who work against our democracy, and who favour this fascistic Islamic radicalism, dont deserve the rights of our democracy. They dont deserve the rights of the rule of law. Without going to a judge, they should be arrested and expelled, he said.
Too bad they did not support the WOT.
Yet, who do governments crack down on: Christians.
Methinks not only dhimmi blood.

I wasn't aware the Imams claimed they had the power and authority to make special deals in eternity (or are they citing some passage in the Quran and reasuring the faithful with such promises.
A perfect diagnosis for the affliction currently ailing The Netherlands.
Also, we have had some female suicide bombers; do they get their own virgins? What about the child bombers?
The Dutch Problem seems to be spreading. The Spaniards are forgetting their history. The Muslims Beheaded 40 some christians in 850 for preaching against Islam !

Why do you say that? The Europeans for the most part don't have guns and can't possibly make Muslim blood flow. Did you mean to suggest that Americans, the folks who did have the sense to hang onto their guns, are once again going to go over to Europe and save Europe? (sigh) I suppose so. . .and I suppose we'll get just exactly as much lasting gratitude as we got for it the last two times.
Don't cower Mr. Prime Minister, continue to stand up to these terrorists and join the United States in the fight for the survival of the intelligent free world.
"GEERT WILDERS, the Dutch MP and controversial critic of Islam"
Silly fellow, everyone knows that Islam is The Religion of Peace, Inc.
Well, on first read, this statement sounds confusing, but actually= it's the whole problem the world is now facing with these barbarians.
They have used our openness and freedoms against us.
The European populace will soon resort to vigilantism, something they've condemned as American barbarism. Europe will come up with some new, nuanced name though.
The blessings of your own virgins for eternity seems likely to be overrated. Sounds like more of torture to me.
Dutch Politician: "Do you expect me to talk?"
Islamic Newbies: " No. We expect you to die."
Religious tolerance is a double-edged sword. I guess. The Dutch protected Jews during WWII (and before that, the Inquisition). They also sheltered, hid and shipped Anabaptist Christians to the New World when the Lutherans were hunting them down and killing them. Many of my friends are descendants of those Christians. It's a shame to think that the Dutch are being paid in evil for their good deeds, but I'm personally glad for their tolerance.
>>His supporters claim that he is telling the truth about radical Islam that others refuse to face up to.
And they're right.
God bless and protect this courageous man and his supporters. And God bless those who fear not speak the truth.
I thought that Europe had about another 20 years or so before the "counterrevolution" would begin. If the Dutch are this fed up, one shudders at what the Germans will do once the breaking point is reached there.
Leftists routinely confuse race with religion. They do this intentionally. They routinely use confusion as a smokescreen to cover their concealed agenda.
"The problem...is too much tolerance."
Yes. The Greek concept of nemesis--anything good taken sufficiently to its extreme becomes something bad.
"...while better employment and education opportunities are put in place to integrate ethnic minorities into mainstream society."
And those who do not want to integrate into mainstream society?
Western Europeans, hoping that they had put racism, violence, and intolerance behind them, assumed that all the people of the world had done so also. This was foolish, of course; so, to make themselves believe it, they resorted to denial. Now reality is crashing down upon them, as it always does to those in denial.
If threatened Western Europeans are having a hard time sleeping now, think what it'll be like in a few years when the shariah has become European law.
