The vote of No Confidence has no legal ramifications... it's just symbolic.

Not as great as it sounds. It seems it is fairly symbolic. But it goes to say something about Kofi and friends.

The vote is not binding, nor will it make anyone lose their job.

yeah, who wants to hear from a union? im offended these losers are even making the news. im sure the only thing that bothers them is that he robbed the iraqis of billions and they didnt get their 20% raises.

"The idea is to keep
dialogue going and see if we can't sort out our differences so that it isn't necessary to adopt a
resolution saying they have no confidence in senior management..."
Typical UN bull. Since when do they do anything than have dialogues and pass resolutions that everybody ignore.
As with everything they do it's a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.

Wikipedia.com:
Rumours have recently appeared that former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming Secretary-General [1] (http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/492377.html). It is generally considered Asia's turn to fill the post. No announcement has been made, but behind the scenes China is already pushing the candidacy of Thai Foreign Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, who also seems to have U.S. support. If Clinton does emerge as a candidate, however, China would most likely shift its support.

I will believe in the UN, only after Koffi Annan has failed to survive a firing squad, down by the UN compound.
That's only a start toward regaining it's credibility .

Don't rush to judgement here -- we need to allow time for the inspectors to work. I am confident that the UN has the fortitude to make 12 more no confidence statements if that is what it takes to clear up the corruption in their ranks. Please join me in calling for diligent use of strong words to keep pressure high. We must prevail - sensitively.
