I would suspect there was a little bit of both involved. It sounds like most of the ones mentioned in this article were Black Muslims (like the earlier group arrested in the Pacific Northwest). Another article I read mentioned some African-born Muslims, as well, so it seems it was a joint effort.
Based on the images in the news last night, most if not all of these men looked like Black Muslim-types, not Middle Eastern men.
