Democrat warns on CIA changes

Senator criticizes Goss note to staff

By Associated Press | November 19, 2004

WASHINGTON -- A Democratic senator warned CIA director Porter Goss yesterday that his efforts to make major changes could have ''a significant and negative effect on the agency."

In a letter to Goss, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of Calif., also said she feared the ''politicization of our intelligence services" because of an e-mail Goss sent this week to agency employees telling them to focus on serving the Bush administration.

Goss took office in September and named some of his former congressional staff members to high-level positions at the agency.

Several senior CIA officials have resigned in recent weeks, an apparent sign of friction between them and Goss' aides.

The changes have raised concerns that agency turmoil could disrupt intelligence efforts at a time of war. But Goss' supporters say he is trying to make urgently needed reforms. Intelligence agencies have been sharply criticized for failing to stop the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and providing inaccurate intelligence on Iraq's weapons programs.

Feinstein said Goss has the responsibility to minimize the difficulties of an overhaul.

*picking jaw up off the floor*

Leave it to Frau Feinswine to think that the CIA is in fine shape now! Hell, the entire mess we have in the CIA is due exclusively to petty Leftist partisanship like she's demonstrating now.

Why Californians keep re-electing that dumb broad is beyond me.

To the Left, ''a significant and negative effect on the agency." means "it will actually do it's job, and that means more of our leftist allies around the world would be found out..."

"Feinstein said Goss has the responsibility to minimize the difficulties of an overhaul."

Shut the Eff up PLEASE. Goss has a responsiblity to overhaul, not to minimize the difficulties in doing so. The CIA wasn't working before Senator so why don't you just shut your pie hole since YOU've been part of the problem. YOU LOST now shut up and go back to your seat.

Oh dear... not just a democrat, but Dianne Freakin' Feinstein!  Will the good news ever end???  If Dianne thinks this is BAD for the agency, it simply couldn't be any better.  She's wrong about simply everything, but on defense/intel, she's got to be maliciously wrong.

I believe the complete quote was that she feared the "politicization of our intelligence services ... with anyone other than boot-licking DNC sycophants and Clinton Administration lackeys."

DiFi doesn't fear the "politicization of our intelligence services" as long as that politicization leans to the left. The only politicization she fears is the cleaning out of the leftist trolls that keep things going her way.
