A close analysis of Ohio, which turned out to be the key swing state in the presidential election, shows that President Bush won thanks to a pitch on morals that went beyond evangelicals to Roman Catholics, a strong effort to turn out rural voters and a last-minute tax break for farmers, small businesses and families.

It's shows no surprises, in fact Kerry picked up 9 votes in the recount so far, and Bush only picked up 6, LOL.
So much for their conspiracy theories.

The MSM, and freepers as well, simply assumed it was the Evangelical Fundamentalists who put Bush over the top -- they were both wrong.
2004 was the year of the Catholic swing vote which broke for Bush.
Optically scanned ballots have an accuracy approaching 100 percent. Perhaps one in ten thousand will flip during a recount.
Well maybe they can take some of their fraudulent votes in MI and PA and just sort of shift them over to Ohio. Of course taking them away would mean those states would go Bush too. Sounds like a quandary (or quagmire) to me.

First the Dems blamed the Diebold touch screens, now they're hot on the trail of the optical scans (this happened when they found out Ohio didn't use many touchscreens).
(I think the NH votes counted so far were e-votes, but not really sure).
Anyhoo, you're right, in 2000, the optical scan recounts were the most accurate in Florida.
Ohio uses mostly punch cards. There will be changes during a recount, but recall that in Florida, the net change over many recounts was a couple hundred votes.
(Neither did that photo-op if Kerry in camouflage on the goose-hunting expedition.)

I'm pretty new to this whole political thing but I think that is how it works.

Notice how the New Hampshire Secretary of State said that the official tally for the state can only be changed if an entire state recount is done. You can't just go pick a few counties (like Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach - 2000 Florida) and call this being fair.
One thing is that the party was much more active than in 2000. I don't remember getting many calls in 2000. This year I was regularly getting calls, including from "George Bush - you know, Barbara's husband" :-). The day of the election I got two calls from my precinct captain, the first reminding me to vote and the second offering me a ride if I needed one. That didn't happen in 2000.
I was one of the "cell-phone-households". No calls. Plus, they were not exactly wasting resources in MS. :)
My parents, more north in the state on the TN border, did get some calls, though. Most were from Gov. Barbor's team on behlaf of the Prez, though.
There are tens of thousands more Republicans that moved into the state then in 2000.
