Did she win?

Yes, here is the sad truth from the full story: "And, of course, Julia Boseman won her election. She did it by sitting back and grinning while her opponent was falsely dubbed a “bigot” and a “hate criminal” by hysterical homosexuals and remorseless reporters."

I guess we won't have to wait too long for her to introduce a gay marriage bill, will we?

Her win was one of the oddest in this election year. There were several factors involving her win that could explain why. The Senator she beat Woody White was an appointed Senator, following the resignation of Patrick Ballanine. Ballanine said he was resinging to concentrate on he Governor's race but there was actually little work to be done in the legislature then. White, who was a law partner of Ballantine was running in the primary. When a legislator resigns in NC the local party executive committee picks there replacement they picked White instead of picking a lame duck. White won his primary but his opponent was unhappy about the way it happened and refused to endorse White. The district covers all of New Hanover County, which was once considered a Republican oasis in the heavily Democratic southeastern North Carolina, but lately it has become an area the the gay community has moved into Wilmington at a fast rate. Finally most people, myself included, thought that White would win because Ballantine would provide some kind of a coattail effect for his home county, but that did not happen as Ballantine actually lost New Hanover county. I am not sure that this may not be a one term deal but who knows. The NC Republican party has been in split for some five years now they have little if any leadership on the state level, Richard Burr was able to win in spite of it, and the GOP took the State Auditor position from Ralph Campbell whose brother former Atlanta mayor Bill Campbell was indicted, and the Republican candidate did a good job of working that. But in the legislature was where the GOP took the biggest hits, although they actually received more total votes than the Democrats, so we will see.
