Isn't Peter Jennings supposedly the most leftist of all the 3 MSM major news anchors? (Jenning, Dan Rather, Tom Brokraw (sp?)) Why would he want to badmouth the US Left's darlingboy?

Peter definitely trails Rather in the leftist rankings, but not by all that much.

I think Jennings was simply trying to give Clinton a chance to run through his usual litany of "rightwing conspiracy, sex-obssessed, couldn't win at the ballot box" whines in a friendly forum. It's probably like sweet music to Jennings' ears.

The problem is Clinton was too touchy and took it the wrong way. Peter's probably really hurt that Clinton misunderstood his intent.

Thanks. We can watch ABC World News rebroadcast here in New Zealand every weeknight, but not CBS or NBC, so I get to watch Jennings but not the other two. It looks a lot more leftist than Australian network news (Nine Network News) and a tiny bit less than any one of NZ's own news programmes.

And it was the local channel that has business ties with the ABC (TV3) that had the infamous "Bush the Professional Fascist" caption appear at the end of its news programme last year. Freepers reported about the saga on this thread:

It was due to this news that led me to believe ABC is more left-wing than the already famously left-wing alphabet soup of MSM.
