I think that you pegged it. The folks who I have known who were consumers of pornography (there are quite a few in our universities) are among the silliest folks I have known. They live in a perpetual state of junior high school mentality. A classmate in undergrad spent a lot of time and money on pornographic magazines and yet lamented that he did not have a girlfriend. I once asked him why he didn't take that time and money and put it into dating a real flesh and blood woman. he did not have an answer and the expression on his face indicated to me that he had never thought along those lines.

The feminists have taught generations of boys that men are all dogs and all we want is sex and we think women are meat. Boys believe these things and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. How are boys supposed to grow up into men when no one shows them how to be a man?
