basically: yes.

I have learned through bitter experience that it is not possible for an outsider to fix the weak - only the weak, perhaps with the assistance of God, can fix themselves.

I think that you pegged it. The folks who I have known who were consumers of pornography (there are quite a few in our universities) are among the silliest folks I have known. They live in a perpetual state of junior high school mentality. A classmate in undergrad spent a lot of time and money on pornographic magazines and yet lamented that he did not have a girlfriend. I once asked him why he didn't take that time and money and put it into dating a real flesh and blood woman. he did not have an answer and the expression on his face indicated to me that he had never thought along those lines.

to desire to or have a native tendency to enjoy doing so?

until the day after they die, cy.

faulting men for that is like faulting water for being wet.

I agree. But its a grey area... hard to define & regulate. In a perfect world, there would be no need for porn...

Everyone agrees that child pornography shouldn't be tolerated. Even the porn industry supports cracking down on child pornographers and have done somewhat of a good job regulating themselves. I mean, parents (and wives of husbands who view porn) can easily buy NetNanny or any other Internet filter or blocker on the market instead of complaining to Mother Government about it and shredding the 1st Amendment.

Look, porn is like weeds in the yard. You're not going to eradicate it entirely. But you can control it with city ordinances, age checks, politicians using the bully pulpit, etc. Maybe if some chicks would give it up more often to their husbands or boyfriends instead of faking headaches they wouldn't have to look at porn.

yeah exactly! I just don't get it. If a man is in a committed relationship with a woman, then he shouldn't need to look at other women.

Americans need to quit their addiction to big government first.

Wonderful, government once again in peoples personal lives. Uncle Sam doesn't need to be involved in your sex life.

yeah, dammit. legalize heroin. legalize crack. legalize cannibalisation. the gummint has no business protecting its citizens from nuttin! damm strate, baby. /trying to think like you.

The government does have a legitimate and well established -- not to mention moral -- interest and obligation in protecting its citizens from commercial affairs that may be damaging, even more so where children and families are concerned.

f*cking DUH!

Well if a single has to look at porn, well whatever! But after he's married no way. Why do MARRIED men have to look at porn? that's weird don't you think?

are you an addict?

you're a closet leftist, though. Here's how I know: someone disagrees with you, and you accuse him. Why don't you ask him if he still beats his wife?

Porn is absolutely destroying lives. It's ruining a close friend and his two children.

I hope you're not suggesting that the solution is to turn him in to the government for "processing" and "repair".

My copy of the Constitution doesn't seem to include this as part of the enumerated powers of Big Stupid Government.

Hell, the Senate is fine with a Klansman and a drunken bimbokiller - they ought to have zero credibility with the Normal-American Community.

We're going to have many millions of shattered families and lost souls because of the ease of obtaining porn.

"Since 1993, rapes have declined by 60%; attempted rapes by 71.4%; and sexual assaults by 37.5%, according to NCVS figures."
