quote: Bush has also broken Pres. Reagan's 1984 record by nearly 6 million votes!
6 million more than Ronald Reagan? That's disappointing to me because Reagan is and will always be my favorite president. How can this be? Reagan won by landslide, something like 40+ states in 1984, was it 48, 49 states?
And how can Bush have six millions more votes than Reagan and yet win only 31 states? It does not make much sense to me. I hope this does not diminish my all-time favorite president, RONALD REAGAN. I'm not very good with math.

The reason is two-fold: The US population in 2004 is much bigger than it was in 1984, and the voter turnout in 2004 was the biggest since the 1960s. Some states, like MN and WI, had 90+% of registered voters turnout on Nov. 2. Six states, mainly in the South, set new voter turnout records.
It's because Kerry also got more votes than Reagan did...shamefully, about 3 million more. Which is a travety and sorry punctuation on the blue states and those who support their candidates IMHO.
The U.S. population has doubled in the past 20 years.
This might put your mind a bit at ease.
Square miles of counties won
Bush 2.54 million
Kerry 592,000
Population (2003) of counties won
Bush 159,2 million
Kerry 130.9 million
Considerably higher voter turnout. This proportion in no way dininishes the acheivements of the Great Man, President Ronald Reagan, who is also my favorite president.
In this new world, however, President George W Bush is rising to the current globl crisis as capably and admirably as I know President Reagan would have, and history will look upon President Bush's legaacy as no less important as President Reagan's.
because more people came out to vote than ever before.
Doesn't diminish our Reagan in any way...but sure sticks it to the dimmies
The Democrats have refined vote fraud to an art form. They didn't have that capability in '84. Plus there are more voters now, than there were in '84.
NO ONE will ever top President Ronald W. Reagan, ever, not no way, not no how.
