Plane Meant To Pick Up Bush Sr. Crashes In Texas

HOUSTON -- A fatal plane crash in Texas prompted a quick change in travel plans for former President George Bush.

The president's father canceled his trip to Ecuador after the private jet he was scheduled to use crashed Monday morning as it approached Hobby Airport in Houston.

Three crew members on board died in the accident.

A spokesman said the elder Bush was scheduled to board that plane so he could attend a business conference in the South American country.

The Gulfstream jet went down after clipping a light pole in thick fog at around 6:15 a.m. local time.
