AK-47 with a 40-round banana mag. Pre-load 5 mags per person. A relatively quick "hit and run" operation. They obviously can't stand around firing very long.

My bad on the banana. However, what are the priorities for the terrorists IF they are going to expose themselves to that level of risk? How far do you think they'll get after they stop firing? What is the cost - benefit analysis (and don't think they don't do such a thing). What provides them with the biggest bang for their buck? Look today at Iraq, what is the mass casuality weapon of choice: Some jihadi's with AK-47s firing full auto or a single car bomber. It is the car bomb. Less exposure to the cell, greater payoff.

Car bombs are pretty easy to pull off in Iraq. The U.S. is monitoring purchases of supplies to make them on U.S. territory. Buying boxes of ammo is much easier. Again, the objective would be a diversionary terrorist action. It wouldn't be the main event. There is the problem of smuggling the full auto AK-47s into the country too. The stuff we can buy at gun shops and shows is strictly semi-auto. The number of legal, privately held full auto devices is pretty small.
