V.....the name on one of the buildings would more likely connect the interestion to Rochester, NY. Hiram Sibley....check out the following info. on Mr. Sibley.

Hiram Sibley - Rochester, NY

In 1870, Hiram Sibley, a wealthy business man from Rochester, New York and one of the original trustees of Cornell University, stepped forward to support the fledgling department of mechanic arts, providing funding to erect a building and to help support the program.

The following year, the newly established Sibley College of Mechanical engineering. Hiram Sibley continued to make gifts to develop and expand the program, and after his death in 1888, his good work was carried on by his son, Hiram W. Sibley.
