Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation From Oil Platform (CA - 11/19/04) Workers Remain On Platform To Stop Leak
POSTED: 1:06 pm PST November 18, 2004 UPDATED: 3:07 pm PST November 18, 2004 LOS ANGELES -- A leak of dangerous gas from an oil platform off Southern California has forced dozens of workers to evacuate.
There are no reports of injuries. The Coast Guard says 15 other workers have remained behind to try to stop the gas flow from the six-story high Platform Gail, located nine nautical miles off Oxnard.

Army seizes 3.6 tonnes of explosives and ammunition (Pakistan - 11/19/04)
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has recovered a huge cache of explosives and ammunition from Kanigarram, South Waziristan Agency, an official said on Friday.
We have recovered 3,600 kilogrammes of explosives, hundreds of 82mm mortar rounds, 75mm rifle rounds, 18 107mm rockets and 40,000 rounds of different calibres, a local administration official said. Military officials in Peshawar confirmed the seizure, but gave no details.

Thieves Make Off with Feds' SUV and Weapons (CA - 11/18/04)
By Chris Durant The Times-Standard A 2002 Sport Utility Vehicle along with an assault rifle, shotgun and two .40-caliber handguns were stolen from a National Park Service ranger station in a remote area of Humboldt County.
The FBI said the theft occurred either late Saturday or early Sunday. The local FBI office said the thefts occurred about 9 miles east of Orick off Bald Hills Road.
Also taken was ammunition, ranger uniforms, law enforcement badges and credentials. The entire vault the weapons and ammunition were being stored in was stolen.
The SUV is described as being white and having a National Parks logo and green stripes. A radio and emergency lights were also in the vehicle.
A reward is being offered for the return of the stolen items and information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves.
Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call the Eureka FBI office at 443-4330, the San Francisco FBI office at (415) 553-7400 or the National Park Service office at (530) 359-2108.
