Washington State Governor's Race--Certification (Live Thread)(Rossi (R) wins by 261 votes!)
Washington State Secretary of State ^ | 11/17/2004 | The Conservator

Posted on 11/17/2004 4:44:42 PM PST by TheConservator

This is a LIVE THREAD for discussion of the impending certification of final results in the Washington State Governor's race, between Dino Rossi (R) and Christine Gregoire (D).

The Secretary of State is required to certify the final results this evening. As of 4:28 P.M. PST, Gregoire leads by 29 votes with 2521 votes from 4 or 5 counties left to be reported. King County (the Dem's stronghold) has apparently made its final report.

Washington State law requires a machine recount if the certified results show a difference of less than 2000, which now seems almost certain. It also requires a manual recount if the difference is less than 150 votes. A machine recount is estimated to take a week, a hand recount a month or more.

If the final result were a tie, the winner would be decided by lot.

Grays Harbor had 1221 posted and ended up with 2008.

Gregoire picked up 105 votes rather than 7. So they added about 800 votes AND picked up about 2% over the previous average. very fishy.

No, I'm actually lucky (especially in this state) - Jennifer Dunn was my rep. I do feel sorry for my stepfather though, he does have Bagdad Jim McDermott as his 'rep' (if you can consider that jerk a 'rep')

Website notes 750 number is an estimate. If the real number is 250, Rossi will win but by the hand recount margin.

God help Washington State!

Official website is the one to watch. NOT a liberal reporter. Maybe he was referring to the votes they are planning to manufacture ;)

I think I follow, in that I follow that if I follow you, you want to be followed, not that you want me to follow you, but to follow you.

Do you follow me?

If it is 250, then Benton county must be run by retards. It shouldn't take 8 hours to count 250 ballots. It shouldn't take 8 hours to count 750 either. I'm assuming this is just some showboating by some county officials who wanted to be last to post.

I'm just reporting what the SOS said on TV. I have no idea if what he says is true.

Yep. SOS Reed said that he didn't think a handcount would be necessary (that's if the %s were met in the final 2 counties); but, that there is more chance for fraud (I don't think he used fraud, but that was what he meant) with a handcount.

You know not to take candy from strangers.

And they don't get any stranger than me.
