Bush Has Solid Lead in N.M. After Canvass

Wednesday November 17, 2004 11:01 PM

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - President Bush has kept his lead in New Mexico after the last county in the state to certify votes from the election completed its canvass Tuesday.

Democrat John Kerry picked up 206 votes in Dona Ana County, New Mexico's second largest, while Bush garnered an additional 100, giving him a 6,047-vote lead statewide in an unofficial Associated Press tally. Results from the official count will be released next week.

In 2000, Al Gore beat Bush in New Mexico by 366 votes.

Dona Ana County's review discovered 86 provisional votes missing, but they were found Tuesday in a private bathroom in a locked area that only staff members could enter.

Most New Mexico counties had finished their canvasses by Friday, but Dona Ana County's results were tied up because of disputes over provisional ballots.

"Hey, we're on the Honor System in the US..."

I was trying to explain that to a member of my family. How it must go back to your Constitution...when no one, not even in their worst nightmares, could have predicted that half of the population would be liars and cheats, and have no regard whatever for what makes a strong republic. The 'founding fathers' must be spinning in their graves.
My interpretation is bound to be simplistic, aussies are basically middle of the road, without extremes (so far) but one thing seems to hold us in good stead; our election system, though it is compulsory to vote, something you are not in favour of...at least each registered voter is listed on an electoral roll and can only vote in the area where his/her name is shown. Once the ballot is handed to the voter, the name is crossed off. Nice and tight. 'Vote often' is unheard of.

Their math is all wrong. They will need a hell of alot more than 86 votes. Parley

That depends on how many locked bathrooms are yet to be found. Since Mr. Bush leads by approximately 6000 votes, thats at least 70 more bathrooms with 86 ballots each for kerry to be found.

The state is controlled mostly by demoncrats, that's why all the shenanigans, demoncrats always cheat, known fact, ask Richard Nixon when the dead of Chicago voted for JFKennedy and JFKennedy won because of that. Too bad both are dead. JFKennedy is probably still voting.

That's so difficult for an aussie to imagine...what's going on there? Are the socialist inmates running the asylum?

It's an odd mix of Hispanic Hillbillies, Whites who work for the Gov Laboratories and Air Force, ranchers and the Californicators who go to Santa Fe to lick crystals--oh yeah--some big injun reservations.

Think of New Zealand, but with Mexicans and injuns instead of Maori....

How Democrats Steal Elections - Top 10 Methods of Liberal Vote Fraud

1. Over-Voting. In Democrat strongholds like St. Louis, Philadelphia and Detroit, some precincts had 100% of their registered voters voting, with 99% of the ballots going to Gore. Clearly, multiple voting resulted in extra tallies for Gore in the 2000 election. (New York Post, 12/09/00).

2. Dead Voters. This classic Democratic method of vote fraud goes all the way back to 1960 in Chicago and Dallas. The 2000 election was no exception. In Miami-Dade County, for example, some of the 144 ineligible votes (those which officials actually admitted to) were cast by dead people, including a Haitian-American who's been deceased since 1977 (Miami-Herald, 12/24/00).

3. Mystery Voters. These "voters" cast votes anyway but are not even registered to vote. In heavily Democratic Broward County, for example, more than 400 ballots were cast by non-registered voters. (Miami-Herald 1/09/01)

4. Military ballots. Many of these votes were disqualified for the most mundane and trivial reasons. At least 1,527 valid military ballots were discarded in Florida by Democratic vote counters (Drudge Report, 11/19/00).

5. Criminals. Felons are a natural Democratic voter and they're protected on voter rolls across the country. In Florida at least 445 ex-convicts - including rapists and murderers -- voted illegally on November 7th. Nearly all of them were registered Democrats. (Miami-Herald 12/01/00)

6. Illegal aliens. These voters have long been a core liberal constituency, especially in California. In Orange County in 1996, Rep. Bob Dornan had his congressional seat stolen from him when thousands of illegal aliens voted for Loretta Sanchez (Christian Science Monitor, 9/2/97).

7. Vote-buying. Purchasing votes has long been a traditional scheme by Democrats, and not just with money. In the 2000 election in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Democratic workers initiate a "smokes-for-votes" campaign in which they paid dozens of homeless men with cigarettes if they cast ballots for Al Gore (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, 11/14/00).

8. Phantom Voters. These voters don't really exist, but their ballots do. In the 1996 Lousiana Senate race, GOP candidate Woody Jenkins had the election stolen from him when he discovered that 7,454 actual votes were cast but had no paper trail to authenticate them (Behind the Headlines, F.R. Duplantier, 4/27/97).

9. Dimpled chads. Those infamous punch-cards were a ballot bonanza for Al Gore. Democratic poll workers in Palm Beach, Dade and Broward counties tampered and manipulated thousands of ineligible ballots and counted them for Gore, even though no clear vote could be discerned. (NewsMax.com 11/27, 12/22, 11/18, 11/19/00).

10. Absentee ballots. Normally it's assumed that Republicans benefit from absentee ballots. But in the case of Miami's 1997 mayoral election, hundreds of absentee ballots were made for sale or sent out to non-Miami residents. Fraud was so extensive in the race that the final results were overturned in court (FL Dept. of Law Enforcement Report, 1/5/98)."

Thanks.

The 2000 election was the final straw that made me a Republican.

I did not oppose the recount because I was a Republican - it was the other way around.

There were a lot of other factors of course, but the Florida fiasco got me over the hurdle that still binds people like Zell Miller (if only in name).

Its Sears' fault!
Never would have happened if they still published their catalogs.

NM is famous for finding lost boxes - with only votes for the loser - to make him the winner - WHEN are we going to get tough!

We oughta at least pass a law that says votes "found" outside the voting area - and I'm assuming that would include the bathroom? - WILL NOT be valid!

So, can we conclude that "staff members" sat on the john while they made up ballots?

or separated skerry votes from Bush and flushed you know whose

Well, Mate, you nailed that on the head!

Hopefully, after Bush gets the obvious stuff rolling and the deadheads out and the real people in - I'll just betcha that election reform is on the books -

maybe they've finally gone too far this time and people will wake up ...and back reform

we need standardization, at least for federal elections.

What might be a good idea is to have a separate ballet JUST for president...that way, It could be under a simple, federal law.

Also have GOT to put a stop to the schemes they use - and have for years - to disenfranchise the military. Separate criteria and distributed and delivered BY the military.

No, Gore DIDN'T win NM in 2000 - you are right.

Bush won by a few hundred votes - then - oops- along comes a "found" box with several hundred votes for Gore - ALL, every one, for GORE!! and he "won" by a few hundred.

And they use the same old cr-p - and get away with it.

They just pulled that up in Washington for the close Governors race - they just"found" a box of votes all for the dem that's was loosing - anyone know how that's coming?

The closest governor's race in Washington history was forced into a recount Wednesday as counties finished tallying the ballots and found fewer than 300 votes separating the two candidates out of 2.8 million cast....Wednesday was the deadline for counting the ballots

in today Chicago Trib - but TODAY is Weds... ...

Today thursday they said the lead the Republican had is down now to like 200 something votes. The women DemocRAT. I dont know her name is thrilled! Of course! Cause I believe it forces the race into a whole new recount of everything all over again and now the RATS are very aware of just how many ''votes'' to ''find'' so she will ''magically '' BE ahead somehow in the next few days! Im sure........GGRRRRR......I wonder how long this is going to go on before somebody puts a stop to all this nonsense!uuuggghh
