This clip may not last. Please take a look if you can. Be patient, it is in Korean, but after 30 second brief intro by the South Korean announcer, you'll 'get it'.The video can be seen at the link URL above, and by then hitting the
on that page,
or here (cut and paste, view and go to that spot on the page, below Kim's photo, and view) at 300k speed:

My first bet would be that North Korea is still playing the part of the crazy Aunt in the attic...and that this is merely part of a ruse on their part to convince the world that they are so crazy that they need to be handled with diplomatic kid gloves.

Kim Jong Il's Team America song:
I'm so Ronery / So Ronery / So Ronery and Sadry Arone / There's No One / Just me Onry / Sitting on my rittle throne / I work very hard and make up great plans / but nobody listens, no one understands / Seems rike no one takes me Serious-RY / And so I'm Ronery / A rittle ronery / Poor rittle me / There's no one I can rerate to / fell rike a bird in a cage / Its kinda sirry / but not rearry / because its firring my body with rage / I'm the smartest most clever most physically fit / but not one at all seems to re-a-rize it / Maybe someday they'll all notice meeee / And until then, I'll be ronery / Yeah, a rittle ronery / Poor rittle me...

Could it be that the North Korean military realized that their fearless leader was a nut job who was going to get a lot of people killed?

"how North Korean TV (male announcer, note the NK communist lapel pin) had referred to Kim Jong-il in the past"
You don't mean past tense, right?

Maybe this has to do with Bush's reelection. Maybe the generals got to him and said, "We're F*****d".

They probably recently sat down as a group, Chia Pet AND generals, with China breathing down their necks, and said as a group "Were 'f''ed", in response to the Kerry Loss. Having Condi Rice in as S of S doesn't help matters for them. They fear her, as they do Rumsfeld, and of course, W.
However, as you well know they pull a lot of tricks and lies. I know we are keeping a close eye on these tricksters and especially the The Great Trickster, a real trouble-maker, with or without the honorific titles!

I have several conflicting theories. If I had more information, like a lot of folks here, I'd come to some stronger conclusions for you. Sorry. Very murky indeed.
