Yup.

You KNOW I've been anticipating this.

I knew it would happen. I trust this administration and they keep demonstrating that they have earned it.

WOW that was good. Thanks for the ping.

It's good to know what the president is up against.

I always have said that the aspect of the Monica business that should have been harped on was that it was yet another demonstration (of a whole stack of examples) of the complete disregard for national security.

She was given a top security clearance, for crying out loud, when they put her over at the Pentagon to get her out of the WH.

I am completely thrilled by this. I think Bush is finally going all out and putting together the team that will really help him now - and help the country later by having gotten rid of the people Clinton left planted there like time bombs.

Rice will have a bigger problem than Goss will...

I think this is true - although if she survived being a hatchet woman in academia when she was at Stanford, State is probably going to look pretty mild by comparison!

I am really hoping she devotes more attention to Latin America. I wondered why Oscar Reich resigned, and I suspect that it was because he didn't get support from State under Powell.

Yup. I think we've all learned a lesson about "bipartisanship."

I hope she succeeds at State. I'm sure she will--State's FSOs will get a taste of Condi's intellect. Stanford, after all, is of the same academic caliber as the East Coast academic "elites."

Your point re Latin America is very well taken.

May God bless and protect them as they go into battle. May they emerge victorious!

Yes. It's as useful as a rubber crutch.

All Patton. All the time.

As far as murderous and crazy North Korea is concerned, they are going to be PISSED tonight at the appointment of Dr. Victor CHA, as new NSC Chief for Asian Affairs, to repor to NSC Chief Hadley. Particularly fluent on the Korean peninsula issue, (he is the first Korean American in this post) he is particularly hard line and was one of the strong impetus in the first Bush Administration to abandon the Clinton appeasement line and confront North Korea HEAD ON.

You can be sure with him in charge, Hadley, Rumsfeld and Condi there, Goss cleaning out the CIA of Carterista/Clintonoid appeasers, wow, we are either going to fully subvert the DPRK government and cause it to collapse from within, or, we are going to war with them, within the next four years. Something has gotta give with this team. They won't back down.
