A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.
The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.
Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.
Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.
Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.
"Our bottom line is to stand up for the integrity of the voting process because the voting process is the heart of the democratic process," said Blair Bobier, spokesman for Cobb.
Bobier said it will be worth the price to ensure the final outcome can be trusted.
Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.

Cuyahooga county is only one of 48 counties connected with voter fraud in Ohio and Florida.
The Smoking Gun You may have seen the associated press story about the precinct in Cuyahoga county that had less than 1,000 voters, and gave Bush almost 4,000 extra votes. But that turns out to be only the tip of a very ugly iceberg. The evidence discovered by some remarkably careful sleuthing would convince any reasonable court to invalidate the entire Ohio election. In last Tuesday's election, 29 precincts in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, reported votes cast IN EXCESS of the no of registered voters - at least 93,136 extra votes total. And the numbers are right there on the official Cuyahoga County Board of Elections website:
Bay Village --- 13,710 registered voters ---18,663 ballots cast

http://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/BOE/results/currentresults1.htm is the official website of the Cuyahoga county election board, providing irrefutable evidence that the vote was off by at least 93,000. Kerry lost Ohio by approximately 130,000, so this is not an insignificant figure that can be ignored, particularly when there are numerous other indications of voter fraud in Ohio and elsewhere. I think the only poss- ible alternative is to invalidate the entire Ohio election, if not the entire national election. I'd say the game's up America, it looks pretty much like you've been had.
I've been had? Hardly, I've never fallen for the LP BS.
How do you come to that conclusion? What other candidate actually held for the principles of the Founders? Certainly not Bush who is anything but conservative. Obviously not Kerry or Nader. The only close one is Peroutka and he made religion too big a part of his campaign. He would have frightened away any secular voter, even though they agreed with him. The ONLY choice was Badnarik.
FReepers will have to learn what is clear to me. Bush is going to go down in history as one of the worst ever presidents. I just hope we survive 4 years under his rule as a free nation-definitely not a sure thing.
Go learn about enemy combatants, the New Freedom Initiative, the Medicare drug benefit, the Patriot act and who knows what is coming in the next year and tell me that he is a conservative.
Note: New Freedom Initiative equals mandatory screening of school children and adults that work in schools for mental illness. It is within days of passing through congress. Is that how free nations treat their citizens?
Have you considered moving to Canada yet?
Any confusion as to what side the libertarians are on now?
If their only reason were to ensure an accurate count, why aren't they pushing for any other state? Why only the state with the electoral number to change the outcome?
Even Kerry has intimated that the election is not really over until Ohio is recounted and certified. He, like the rest of the crazy dems, is probably holding onto the hope that their vote fraud will still be able to overcome the 130000+ difference.
Hi "Mike4Freedom".
If you're going to troll, at least get your facts straight, that way you can troll with some credibility.
Peroutka was not the Libertarian candidate.
Money talks my friend! I want to know how much Kerry & company are paying Bad-narik & gang.
Yes, I used to be a dem living in Chicago in the 60's and I know all about how many votes were padded to make JFK's win possible in Illinois which was the pivotal battleground state.
