Marine Mosque Shooting Correspondent Kevin Sites Has "Art" Photos On Anti-War Site
November 17, 2004 | self

"Friends, photographers and artists ... were invited to give their visual statement against war." -imagesagainstwar.com NBC correspondent Kevin Sites, who reported on the Fallujah mosque shooting, has photographs displayed on "Images Against War", a web site devoted to "visual statement against war". A review of the site states, "Most of the great war photographers have been against war in general, and often against the particular wars they were photographing". Was Mr. Sites acting as a unbiased journalist in the mosque, or as a "artist" against war?

Hmmm. Maybe he submitted many others and those are the ones they used. Besides, showing guys with their faces covered doesn't exactly scream "evil Americans" to me. It seems there was a time early in the war that they were complaining when their faces were shown.

Tuesday, October 21, 2003 Raid Saturday morning near Baji. These men were all arrested in a raid following an attack on Combat Engineer Battallion--Charlie Company. The three men captured immediately after the attack indicated they had accomplices in a nearby house. Three more men were arrested there and bound and blindfolded with their own headscarves. They were taken to Tikrit for questioning."

A description from Sites about those photos. Where is the anti-war bias? I don't get it.

General Sherman detested reporters so much, because of their reporting causing intelligence leaks to the Rebels, that he threatened to have any reporter found in his army hung as a spy.

I think he had the right idea.

The media has NO place in combat. Here's a good question. How many of our soldiers (and Marines) have been killed or wounded trying to protect these media buttheads?

The exhibition shows works of 561 artists and the website continues – so please send 1-3 pics per artist in 72dpi, 400 pixel width.

I bet Sites didn't even send them. I bet it was someone else who thought that those photos would antagonize people.

Raybbr, you keep asking the same question from those of us who might view Sites' journalism as inappropriate and you keep getting the same answers: "read what Sites has written."

You almost sound as if you are trying to get a specific answer, as if your questions are leading somewhere other than the topic. Do you know Sites personally or are you friends with Sites? Is there something that you want known about Sites but you are reluctant to say so? Speak up man, this is a dialogue.

Perhaps you didn't read my earlier post to you - it's short and it should answer what I see wrong in Sites' blog: Post 49

To start, they are posted on an anti-war website. A war between Americans and terrorists. These show the terrorists in a submissive position, again, meant to evoke a visceral response. Why no photos showing the injuries or death caused by terrorists to Americans? From what I've gathered, most Leftist don't want to see these images. In their world view, America is the aggressor, the occupier, the usurper. The Left doesn't want to see images of injuries to America- only injuries inflicted by Americans.

Good point. One which the MSM will never venture to answer.

Your assumption is much more speculative than mine regarding his possible motives.

Of course I saw your post. I still don't see anything that he does contrary to what my local newspaper and every other media outlet does. He lists the same info as they.

I don't know this guy at all. The only reason I ever heard of him was due to this film clip.

I did some research and instead of coming up with a knee-jerk reaction to Sites I try to be objective. He just doesn't come across as anti-war in the way you are trying to paint him.

I wonder how safe Sites is feeling these days being with the Marines. Afterall there is an awful lot of AK-47s lawing around and plenty of ammo.

He'll be safe during the day with cameras around, cause everyone will be looking out to see if the Marines "get even".

But at night, off duty, alone or on night patrol sh#t happens. Like chopper accidents, misidentification of friendlies, gee I've seen guys killed standing next to a helicopter tire that exploded.

If any Marine dies trying to "think" about how an action will look on camera, this a-hole should have his blood splattered on his face and be credited with a "kill".

I can assure Sites that if a brother of mine died or was prosecuted he would be awfully lonely in a combat situation as an embed.

Sites voluntarily posted photos of terrorist captives on an anti-war web site. I don't know exactly why he did it. I presume you don't either. Under the circumstances, it's not a "knee jerk" reaction to question his motives- it's common sense.

When Sites gets back stateside, maybe he will figure out that what he did wasn't very "smart".

When EVERYWHERE he goes, he ends up in a verbal and physical "discussion" with complete "strangers" over his "actions",....

...when he no longer can do his independent reporting on camera without someone "interrupting" his "performance".....

.... none of his friends will want to be seen with him in a public setting because of the constant "questions" and the verbal and physical "discussions",.....

...when the cooks start recognizing him when he goes out to eat.....

..... and when Kevin parks his car in a busy parking lot, and then comes out to leave and can't figure out why the nearest car next to his is more that 1000 ft away.....

..........maybe THEN he'll start to "get it"........

1. Why didn't Sites notify the Marines's command about the action and give the US Government a chance to investigate this incident before airing this video?

I agree and posted the same in another thread yesterday. If Sikes were concerned about the incident, he would have turned the tape over to investigative personnel. By turning it over to his 'employer', he seems more interested in pushing an agenda (anti-war) and gaining prominence with NBC news.

I take great exception to the numbskulled comment "all great war photographers were against war"..maybe in VietNam, but NOT WWII and before. Good catch, however!

Yet again, FREEPERS have done the work that should of been done by "Journalists". It is no wonder that their ratings and thus: PROFITS are going down the tubes.

Now that we have this information...what are we going to do with it?

Have you passed this information to DRUDGE yet?

Your statement above is proof that you failed to read any of my posts. Maybe you are thinking of someone else.

One more time Raybbr, it is the journalist's own name and photos on the following site: Images against war and it is the journalist's own name, his photos and his commentary on his blog NBC journalist's documents, photos and diary while with US troops..

The NBC journalist posted his own photos on the "images against war" site. The NBC journalist wrote detailed troop movements on his self-named blog, as well as photos identifying specific soldiers, their movements, and landmarks.

Why are you trying to defend someone who is working against our troops?

Unfortunately, questions of Sites motives will be investigated with the same sense of urgency that CBS is investigating RatherGate (Picture OJ looking for Nicole's killers on community gulf courses in Florida).

I suspect that the new Left MSM looks down on the journalistic creed of Ernie Pyle. He wasn't too sensitive to the motivation or suffering of the average German SS officer. He was very one-sided in his desire for the American's to defeat Hitler and the Nazi's. He couldn't get hired by CBS or NBC today. He would probably want to call the terrorists...terrorists. Can't have that.

This need to be investigated and if NBC has sponsored enemy propaganda, their FCC license to broadcast should be revoked.

Yes, and someone needs to tell General Electric (who owns NBC) that they had better get their rogue news department under control or they will find themselves living either under EU control or under Islamic control. Personally, I think they should be taken off all US government bid lists until they clean out that rats nest.
