Gosh what's that stirring in my soul. It feels like...like....1984. Except even more arrogant and unappealing.

Do I recall U.S. company Johnson & Johnson writing to Geldof twenty years ago saying, 'don't worry, we won't sue you for the use of the trademark Band Aid'?

As bad as the "Band Aid" song was, it was still better than "we are the world".

This is true. I graduated HS in 85 and I'm ashamed to say my classmates voted "we are the world" as our class song. How embarrassing is that.

I thought the Band Aid song was the ode to John Kerry's multiple "war injuries".

The organisation condemned the "negative stereotypes" depicted in the song and regretted it did not "provide a more accurate reflection of Africa and its problems."
But the organisation added that it did not want to discourage people from buying the record.lol

Those million sacks of rice/corn meal will largely be funneled to rebel armies engaged in civil wars and genocide. Someone must die for every act done by a Do-gooder.

Just listened to the comparison clips. I don't know what the rest of the new mix sounds like, but the guy who first comes on (whoever he is) just can't sing.
The song has a nice melody. I actually like the original and enjoy hearing it once or twice around the holidays.

I kind of liked the old one:

'Cause BandAids stuck on me!"

No it's more like an ode to elitism.. which, I suppose, still could be his theme song.

When the original came out, I always found it ironic that they sang "Do They Know it's Christmas?" while trying to raise money for Ethiopians, when about half of the country is Islamic....
According to the CIA World Factbook:
Muslim 45%-50%
Ethiopian Orthodox 35%-40%
Animist 12%
Other 3%-8%
