1913 The Panama Canal opened (unofficially); the 51-mile waterway cuts through the isthmus of Panama, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Same trip to Arroyo Grande, CA each year at this time. Back home to friends as close as blood. I try never to travel out of state at Christmas time. Fog in Seattle has a history of screwing up the flights. Just one that can't leave/arrive messes up all others. We can't get the planes up here if they are stuck in Seattle.
