This report is troubling in that it suggests same sex parents are fine for raising children.

44 "families" is not nearly a large enough sample size to get a true reading on it.

Plus, it says nothing about the development of the sexual orientation of these kids.

It's actually very sad in my opinion. And another attack on the NORMAL family.

Talk to these kids when they are in their 40's and see what they tell you than.

This really isn't complicated.

God created man.
God created woman.
He gave them compatible body parts.
He put them together to bear and raise children.
He stood back and called it Good.

How then, can anything contrary to that original formula be "good"?

Judging from this picture of Dr.Patterson, where do you think her preferences lie?:

Okay, how large a sampling of number of families do you want?

These kind of folks are out to try and prove something,
but they will not raise my children (literally over my dead body) nor have any more influence on them that I can possibly spare them, and I will never be convinced that it is okay for them to raise children in their own abominable image.

What they are seeking is complete acceptance. Never give them that.

First, this is an academic study, and we all know what academia is these days.

Second, it is a psychological study, and we all know what psychologists are like these days.

For instance, if under political pressure you redefine homosexuals as perfectly normal, as the American Psychiatric Society did, and then as icing on the cake define those who object to this new approach as homophobes--a newly invented mental illness--what does it mean when you say that the children of homosexuals pretending to be parents are normal?

Not a whole lot. It depends what the meaning of is is, or in this case what the meaning of normal is.

As a footnote, there has been a serious drive to redefine pederasty as normal. Some psychiatrists have already argued the case in journals. Where does that leave us?

Remember all the studies in the '60's and '70's by drug using researchers that "proved" that drugs were harmless?

Homosexual Agenda Ping - Check this one out. A "study" showing that children raised by two homosexuals (the author left out male homosexuals, I wonder why...) are just as normal as kids raised by normal parents.

Read down the thread, and you will see - The Rest of The Story. Author outed masterfully as a "gay" promoter.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

Note - reminds me of how they all said years ago that kids would bounce back from divorce, it's better for parents to split up than stay together "for the sake of the children" and so on. Now they find out the exact opposite - even older teenage kids are seriously harmed by divorce. What to speak of being raised by two homosexuals. What a foul social experiment.

Add to that the fact that many in the social services and related fields are leftists and often homosexuals themselves, and there is a real push now to give babies and children who need foster homes or adoptive parents to homosexuals instead of married husbands and wives. Disastrous and horrible.

Teens with Same-Sex Parents as Normal as Peers

This isn't good news. Most normal people I know are pretty screwed up.

Yea yea yea, and in the 50s and 60s studies showed whole language was the way to teach children more effectively to read, and that rehabilitating and understanding criminals was more important that punishing them.... Which lead to off the charts increases in illiteracy for the first time in american history it went UP! And to a 30 year crime wave that only recently has been culled!

Sorry, I'm not going to lose 30 years playing with your experiments, I'll take the 2000 years of written human experience and history as my guide on this one.

define "normal"....

and besides.....most kids or adults will go out of there way to appear "normal" when they are in an unfathomable position.....

not that I think that two women couldn't do a good job of raising, say dtrs only, but it really depends on what kind of homosexuals they are....

some homosexuals are very "out there" if you know what I mean...

I think others can live quietly....

This sounds like a contrived study to counter the New Zeland study which found that children of lesbians hand serious mental problems.

Just from the article the concept of "divorced" lesbians does not exist at law other than in Mass.

More homsexual propaganda.

The researchers compared those adolescents to 44 teens with mothers in opposite-sex relationships.

What I would like to see is the comparison to children whose mothers and fathers are married to each other. There are lots of interesting demographic breakdowns that should also be studied.

The key is, since we can no longer assume a predominance of families where the mother and father are both on their first marriage, or where the first marriage was ended by death, any kind of arrangement would yield kids that match the "norm."

Shalom.

if their mothers had a partner living at home, their fathers were supportive of the relationship, and they learned of their mothers' orientation when they were relatively young.

Boy, that's one big "If."

I would guess if I had been raised from birth by a sow, I would think the pig pen was a pretty cool place.
