NEW YORK (AP) - Barry Bonds won his record seventh NL MVP award in a walk.

Capping a season filled with suspicion and success, the San Francisco Giants left-fielder became the oldest player to become the MVP of a major North American professional league. If you get tired of Beltre, we'll take him.

beltre is an enigma; he finally lived up to his perceived potential last year, but unfortunately it was in his walk year. and even more unfortunately, his agent is scott borass. dodger fans are pretty well mortified over the prospect of a shawn green-line contract, and then he reverts back to his underachieving self. I've got a lot of confidence in our new GM; he's a moneyball type. we can't do much more than hope for the best.

Hope we meet again in the NLDS next year. Nice move by both teams to shake hands after the last game. No doubt, the Cardinals and the Dodgers are the classiest organizations in baseball...way above the rest.

well, I DIDN'T want to see you in the playoffs; it seemed like a sure-fire ticket back home, and, in fact, proved to be just that. how the astros hung on as long as they did, and how boston managed to do what they did is completely beyond me.

the show of sportsmanship was indeed something to see; I hope kids all over the country were able to see that. good luck next year, and I still hope that another team draws you for the first round.

Anything happening with the rumored Green/Sosa trade?

One other thing we have in common:

We both despise the San Fransisco Giants.

All those liberals don't deserve a good team.

hopefully, that is only more of that "coastal media hysteria" that you accurately identified, along with the even more bizarre "green/piazza trade.

In fairness:

Bonds stolen bases: 506 Babe Ruth: 123

True, but who crossed home plate more often?
Bonds - RUNS = 2070 with 700 more at bats than Ruth.
Ruth - RUNS = 2174

(Bonds should catch him in a couple years however)

Gee the oldest player ever to be MVP. I wonder why?

I wonder why every other Great player in baseball saw he's slugging percentage decline after 35, while BB's went up.

Gee, I wonder why?

Yep, Ruth peaked in SLG PC at ages 24 & 25. BB is peaking after age 36. Bonds will never beat Ruths' lifetime SLG average (690).
