Plainly said, a good dose of service either to the country as a whole or volunteering to help others would, IMHO, be far better than pontificating about the ills of the country.

Well...it's not the right time right now, but I've always been for mandatory service for everyone, as Israel does with the IDE. Yes it's much better than pontificating about the ills of a country from your comfy armchair in your air conditioned apartment on the 22nd floor.
