Amazing Race #6 (Show Thread)
CBS ^ | 11/16/2004 | CBS

Amazing Race Freepers!

In little less than twelve hours, the Amazing Race #6 (TAR6) will start. For those wondering, this is a television show like no other and has a growing cult-like following here on FR.

In a nutshell, TAR6 will be a whirlwind, non-stop race around the world for one million dollars [/Dr. Evil voice] that one wrong turn can eliminate you from the race. Choose your path wisely and win a weeklong cruise on some segments. Choose poorly and your team could wind up in a Moroccan jail like Andre / Damon on TAR3 or possibly shaving your head like Brandon / Nicole on TAR5. That’s the adventure of the Amazing Race!

How will this season stack up against the usual assortment of eye-candy, manipulators, potential whiners and oddballs in this year’s competitors? Check out the TAR6 website for all pre-race details.

Will this season's contestants have what it takes to travel some +40k miles by air, sea and land around the world? Find out tonight, 11/16 at 9PM EST.

Please be aware that I cannot commit to an entire season of TAR play-by-plays etc so if there are volunteers, please contact me. Also, contact me by freepmail if you want on or off this ping list.

Race On!

Please add me to your TAR ping list.

TAR has replaced Survivor (which has completed its official shark jumping) as my favorite reality show.

I have been a Survivor addict, but can't stomach the show this season. I don't like any of the people and don't really care who wins.

I saw a AOL preview of The Amazing Race and there are some interesting contestants. There are two sisters (models from Utah), an older couple, a husband-wife wrestling combo, etc. It looks like fun. They are starting from Chicago this year.

Since Sarge was booted, I'm hoping the volcano will win.

After seeing this Survivor so far, they should have quit on top after last season. TAR is always great though, following along around the world.

Thanks for the reminder. I hope I have time to catch it.

I was a big fan of AR1. I liked the people and the idea. And, let's face it, after 9/11, I needed the escapism, and co-incidentally, CBS was the only network I could watch at the time.

The second one I half-watched and didn't like the people all that much. The third one I didn't watch at all.

My wife hated the show -- until it was on at someone else's house. Now, she wants to run it (with someone else, of course). If someone else likes it, it must be good. You know.

I thought about trying out for the show with my brother, I thought we'd make a good team, but I believe there was a lot of driving in AR2 and he doesn't drive. I didn't know if I was up to that. (Yeah, like that was the only barrier to getting on the air ...) Really, though, I thought we could be the next Kevin and Drew ... only we'd get further.

Has anyone looked at the web site? I just wasted half an hour looking at the teams--please tell me you understand my obsession!

Right now, Adam and Rebecca look weak. He is afraid of everything, hates "weird" food (can anyone say live octopus?) and thinks traveling from the valley to Santa Monica is a big deal. And what is with the horns?

Love the "old" couple, Don and Mary Jean. Real travel (and life) experience.

The CIA guy Gus could be a strong contender, but his daughter seems to have a chip on her shoulder.

Lori and Bono should be good--pro wrestlers, he's former military and they're from a blue state!

Then there's Jonathan, who will give 1/3 of his winnings to PETA . . . I hope they make him kill and eat a live chicken.
